Wolf Blass 'Black Label' Cab Sav Shiraz 2005 with dinner tonight.

Decanted for one hour but still not enough. Took almost two hours for the wine to open up. It's intense and full bodied, true SA gem!

Finished the second half of this tonight:



Dragged it back after a visit to NZ back in February 2011 (I was in Queenstown when the earthquake destroyed Christchurch). Rippon has arguably one of the most spectacular vistas of any vineyard in the world, IMO. It overlooks Lake Wanaka to the N of Queenstown:



However, the wines do not seem to reach those exalted heights IME. This one was no different. It was good, but just had no wow factor.
