Buzzard, was the 2011 Basket Press on tasting, and if so, how was it? Interested to know how they managed this difficult vintage.

It was. I thought it was pretty darn good. They did explain that they have their own picking team who goes out and handpicked only the best fruit.

Yes, the 2011 was available for tasting and purchase. It was a bonus that a few back vintages were also made available to us so a chance to compare. The oldest was a 1999.
The 11 was certainly a different style BP to previous vintages. I thought it looked lighter in colour, was not the big gutsy Shiraz like previous vintages and had a peppery finish. I actually quite liked it. Lindi did mention that the alcohol is lower this vintage but as I don't have any on hand I can't tell you the %. Might I suggest it won't cellar as long as previous years. I purchased some and do recommend it. One of the things I will certainly enjoy in 5 or 6 years time is having the 2011 in a flight of BP's and appreciating the variation.
Ah yes, Rockford:

So fortunate to have tasted them and have 3 more to add to my collection (plus the Alicante I won).
Was a standout winery and in the words of a famous actor: "I'll be back". Put my name down for joining something as well.
Don't tell anyone about Rockford wine! It'll only mean your allocation will drop.

Those from Buzzs' Adelaide soirée on Sunday will recognise the items in the photo:

Delightful - now to sit down and enjoy it.
We somehow ordered 16 bottles
And now you've left me alone in the "bad glass" stakes!

Good to see that some see value in drinking from proper glasses.I'm certainly looking forward to the bottle I won (and we are getting some Riedel glasses at the Epiqure event this week).
What did you think?
IMHO as a $19 wine, this one punches well above it's weight. I have a few in cellar. According to TF it will cellar for 10 years or more.
A well selected wine QF WP, I'm sure you enjoyed it.
I have plenty of proper glasses, and they are the reason I had red wine on the carpet in my lounge. Those short and sturdy ones are good for a reason.Good to see that some see value in drinking from proper glasses.
