There were plenty of great wines on the recent Tour d'Buzzard, but one of the best 'finds' for me was the Turkey Flat fortified Predro Ximenez. Christmas Cake in a glass! $27, or $30 in a presentation box, a couple of my friends will be getting one for Christmas!

The Kies Dedication Shiraz was another good one for me, and delivery has been arranged (with some Klauber Block to round out the dozen). Kies also do a sparking Merlot, which is great value at $27.

Nothing at Rockford surprised :) but I stocked up on the SVS Flaxman (only available to Stone Wallers actually showing up at the winery). I bought 3, but gave in to the entreaties of pengal and shed one to him; Buzz gave up all 3 of his! I pigged out on more Basket Case too.

Was the Bellvale Pinot any good QF WP?

Can't confirm as I didn't drink any of it but will ask penegal to reply

I enjoyed it, but the 2010 is quite a different style than you will be used to. The 2010 is quite light and floral upfront, but it matures through the palate and has a surprising kick at the end. It is a very well made wine.

The 2008 is a more traditional / rounded wine, and better IMHO. Drinking very well now.

Both are quite acceptable for $15 (retail $30).

(of course if you're not a Pinot Noir person you will probably hate it).
