Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Heemskerk from Tassie - haven't had one in years. Thanks for the fond recollections Daver6.

Was a really good wine. Fruit driven. Not the most complex wine, but so slurpable. Surprised a few last night.

I was about to chime in that that couldn't be from Tasmania, as its spelled 'Heemskirk' down here (as in the mountain on the west coast). But sure enough, it is with a kerk... from the Coal River Valley.

Is this the same winery as the 'old' Heemski/erk that used to produce half decent Cab Sav in the 1980s or 90s?

I didn't know vasse Felix does botrytis! :O

Sounds enjoyable - was it invitation only? E-mailing list?

Advertised on the website and e-mailing list (and maybe social media). There's a couple more banquet nights in the next couple months, but it sounds like they get booked out pretty quick.

What are these like?

3 Tales Sauvignon Blanc

Yarra Valley Reserve Chardonnay

Yarra Valley Estate Sauvignon

Melba Reserve 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon

Yarra Valley Estate Grown 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon

Wills Hill 2009 Hunter Valley Shiraz

i heard about it on Facebook before the email came around. There are two more on their website that also look really good so take a look.

QF WP - When are you inviting me over?

I didn't know vasse Felix does botrytis! :O

Yep - They have done so for years, and years.

You would know this if you actually showed up to the Margaret River do instead of doing mileage runs.

The fruit for the wine actually comes from two vineyards. One Coal River the other Derwent.

Unsure of the history. Currently part of the TWE portfolio.

And yes, their Chardonnay is good...in fact serious quality juice IMHO.

Did a stock take of the SIN cellar over the weekend and found these hiding in the nook and crannies of the fridge
