Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Re: Nice Wines I have DranK Recently - Red or White

Was that basket pressed?

Hang on.... I'll just give Rockfords a quick ring.

Lindy tells me all the reds are basket pressed. The staff are going to try the 2011 Rifle today but Robert is impressed given the conditions of 2011. For fellow Stonewallers the "Rag" will be sent very soon. Can't wait to place an order.

Epiqure delivered me a six pack of 2008 Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz yesterday. A very nice drop, the whole family clamoured for more after we had a bottle from a mix.

A couple of nice medium rare steaks done on the Weber plus a 2003 Rockford Basket Press. Heaven! The wine is smooth as mothers milk, a nice earthy palate, the nose I'm not sure. It's a mix of old leather, cigars and antiquarian bookshop. Mrs Buzzard has a nice smile on her face. Even the cat is sated, snoring by a crackling fire! It doesn't get much better than this. Have a look at my glass.....

SWMBO's favourite Rose is the 'Atlantic Bucket'

Our relocation to MEL has prevented us from easily accessing it.

Very nice wine, they seems to regularly rate almost as well as their big brother. In general I don't think the Epiqure prices are that hot but they certainly are on this for some reason.

I couldn't agree more. I found some ' cheap' Rockford at 375ml bottles in a tassie resturant recently. What a find!!

Tried this little Azerbaijani red number coupla weeks ago when in Moscow. Yeah, yeah geographically incorrect but it was an Azerbaijani restaurant (we were sick of meat balls).

Quite OK, (wasn't cab sav we thought, but similar) so we had another. Mind you back to the Basket Press quick smart when we got home!

I don't know how many Stonewallers there are on this thread/site but maybe we need to organise an Stonewall room visit. Next vintages out soon so would be an opportunity to group taste. Not sure how many guests a Stonewaller can take, I've taken 6 before +Mrs Buzzard.

Does this count? Its more a dark reddish-brown, and certainly not white!).

Full bodied, with a good hint of chocolate and licorice. Beige foam when first poured (no need to decant this one). The Volfas Engelman Imperial Porteris is a real bargain at under 3 LTL.

Nothing wrong with a cleansing ale :)

NOW ya talk'n ! Have been a stonewaller since the ?mid 90s when I lived in Adelaide. Rockford was the first winery I visited on my initial Barossa recc and I stopped there! (Ok, I did go round the corner to Henschke, but they are still my only regular significant orders).

Have just gone through the last of my '90s Basket Case (sob) and onto the '01s.

An AFF Stonewall visit is something I'd definitely be up for.

Last time I was there (5 yrs ago or so) I raided their museum and still have a couple of the treasured bottles (and they still are unopened too!!). Like to do it again :D

Not sure when the Stonewall thing started. Been going to Rockies since early-mid 80's. Still remember their dry pressings. As far as I know I have been a Stonewaller since the day Robert O. started the concept. Lets see who else shows some interest. Because I live in ADL I could meet up at Rockies pretty much any weekend. Mrs Buzzard would always be up for a visit too.

Robert O = Oatley?

The Victorian Mosswood Pinot Noir is a beauty.
