Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

A few recent drops - no pics right now as posting from my phone:
- Penfolds RWT 2011: a stark reminder of how bad the 2011 vintage was. Whilst it's actually a decent drop, it's nowhere near the quality you'd expect of an RWT and definitely not worth the full asking price. Hints of your big Barossa tastes, but generally lacking follow through IMHO

Interesting. I wonder if this has changed significantly since release when I tried it. I thought it was a seriously good wine and a great example that you shouldn't judge a wine by its vintage.

Maybe I'm being a bit unfair - it is a good wine, and I'd probably be happy paying $50 for it, thinking about what others you can get at that price range. There's no way it's worth the $150 asking price, and compared to other vintages of RWT, I think it's definitely a lesser vintage.

Tonight it's Bay of Fires Pinot Noir 2009.

Although it says drink to 2016 I still had some doubts if indeed it's going to impress or maybe I kept it for too long...

It was perfect! Rich and complex, aged well.

As we're all bargain-hunters in these threads, I thought I'd pop in to let you know that it's available for significantly less than the price above.

Looks quite good! I might have to grab one for myself as a belated birthday present ;)

I'm overseas at present, so even though I specified AUD, it may not be the price if ordered in Australia - as indicated by Booko. Usually BookDepository pricing is pretty keen.

Road tested a couple of recent VM purchases last night, two 2013 Cab Sauvs from McLaren Vale. Both impressive wines and recommended. The Fox Creek was a tad more fruit forward.IMG_2634.jpgIMG_2632.jpg

Re: Nice Wines I have DranK Recently - Red or White

A Wynns Shiraz tonight - I'm coming to the conclusion that Wynns wines are not thing.

'not thing'?

I think Wynns are great. Especially the black label. Around $20 to $25 for a quality, reliable wine that will cellar for 15 years or more.

I was thinking of opening a 1998 over the weekend.
