Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

When Mike went out on his own, he began by making clean skins.
In 2006 he entered the Adelaide Hills wine show and scored 3 trophies. He had to race and produce labels for his winning wines ready for the awards lunch. The rest is history and you can buy his exceptional wine for $13/14 a bottle! I even posted a deal on another thread last month where you could get his stuff for $100/doz delivered.
I didn't get a single taker sadly.

Which tread Buzz?

A balmy summer evening, sitting under the pergola watching a documentary on SBS, a BBQ, a bottle of Mike Press Sauvignon Blanc and a bottle of Penfolds 2009 Bin 28 (Mike Press used to be a wine maker at Penfolds), +1 and Munn the Cat at my side, what more could a person ask for?

A sparkling shiraz?;)

IIRC the (supposedly) oldest restaurant in the world. I thought the chicken was the dish of the night.
Yes so they say. The sucking pig was pretty good. American man on other side said to waiter "well fella, we come from North Carolina and we raise lots of pigs but we don't eat them that way" and his female partner said "do they come with the head on?". Kept us entertained. Just as the Italians next to us asked on every course if it was good or not, then ordered lots of Grappa after their meals.:) ( After the Sangria of course.)

The '97 RWT a big improvement on my last bottle of '97. Cork intact this time.

We didn't get to the '98. Better luck tonight.

Last night in Madrid before suffering EK F back to BNE tomorrow.

Lovely Argentinian Cabernet Merlot at Restaurante La Cabaña Argentina. Nice fruit, soft palate with Merlot filling the back.

From Salta and by Michel Rolland, a French consultant very big in Argentina, I see.

Of interest, as I am currently in the throes of planning a foray to the Chilean fjords and a big drive back through W Argentina via Mendoza as far N as Salta over about three weeks in early 2017. I'll be looking forward to slurping some Salta wines in situ .

I have a Rockford in the wine fridge but +1 doesn't like sparkling Shiraz :o :(
I'm waiting for someone to share it with.

I am available - Sparkling Shiraz is great during the warmer months.

Not sure how close you will be but the nephew of the Sassicaia producers has started Pinot production in northern Patagonia. Tasted one and it's very nice -

That's near Neuquen and E of the track I'm aiming to take. But I went there a few years ago. IIRC Chacra was closed when I went or I was too late but I spent a bit of time at Familia Schroeder Bodega Familia Schroeder | Patagonia Argentina .
