Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

I wish I had purchased more 2010 Basket Press... I think a few boutique cellars may still have some, but probably at high mark-ups?

At the risk of sounding obtruse that actually looks like a reasonable-ish price given the calibre (and cost) of some of those wines.

Of course with most wine dinners like this you only get a taste of the really sought after wines.

Yes, I agree with the value for money assessment. My "lottery" comment related to the actual price of the event, per head.

And, yes, of course, there will be tastings only. Probably just as well, given the number of wines on the list. :) Without double-checking, my memory is that there are around seventeen, all told. Not sure how clear the palate will be by the end of the list - but will be happy to run the experiment. :p

Nice deal I came across at BWS, when buying 6 pack of Pepperjack hand crafted Ale they offer 2 bottles of Pepperjack Shiraz 2012 for $15. Great price for a very nice table wine.

Indeed, I also don't have that kind of cash floating around... But I would be willing participant in any experiment :p

Tonight's tipple, a Brown Brothers 2008 SMC. It's going down a treat.

Quite full bodied, with nice firm tannins. My favourite sort of Mclaren Shiraz.

Purchased from Naked Wines which supports up and coming wine makers.

If you're interested the below link will give you a $50 voucher (I get $10 as well)

Just make sure you don't drink it before I come down in November otherwise I will be    (+1 reckons I'm already mad )

You are too kind :p If you want me to pay you before November just let me know.

I'll try not to... :p:mrgreen:

Ill make sure he doesn't; he has one of his own ;) Payment on the day is fine.

Restrained nose of black cherry, blackcurrant, leather, hints of mint and sweet vanilla. High acid, medium plus tannins. Palate of spicy dark fruits, some pepper, medium finish. Hint of alcohol heat. Seems somewhat disjointed without anything really poking out. I'd like to see where this is at in another few years time. 87 points.
