Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

I was gifted these wines yesterday. I know nothing about them, and have no idea of their condition....

(and as always my iPad photo is upside down )

If they were given to me I would not be wasting any time drinking them. Unless correctly stored my experience is not to keep anything longer than 8 to 10 years, the benefit is not worth the risk. YMMV.

I was lucky to be invited to a bash yesterday where I was able to enjoy perhaps too many fine wines. All the guests brought a bottle or two which made for an interesting range.

The plan is definitely to drink them sooner rather than later. Will decant, and possibly filter if required however they don't look like they've got sediment happening. They've been stored lying down in an unused bedroom.

Yes, that residence is well renowned for having bottles of red and Champagne at their soirées...;) :D

I recognise a couple that I have partaken there...

8 glasses of red and 2 flutes of Champagne - trust nobody drove...

I assume that's a typo with the Champagnes being 2013. I suspect you meant NV?

I have a couple of 2010 Basket Press stashed away for later but have also had a couple this last winter.
Certainly a pleasure to drink now.

So I suppose it depends from which school you come from - the drink now or the drink later?
Some friends of mine do not buy wine to cellar.

If anyone here has just won the Lottery, the lucky person might possibly be interested in this:
Prince Wine Store
I believe there is still one place available. :)

At the risk of sounding obtruse that actually looks like a reasonable-ish price given the calibre (and cost) of some of those wines.

Of course with most wine dinners like this you only get a taste of the really sought after wines.
