Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Backtracking to JessicaTam's Grant Burge 2003 Meshach, it was tainted (although not bad enough to have to throw away). An amazing marmalade nose that transcended the taint.

Now to drink the next bottle JessicaTam - just to see if the first was a mere aberration.

I will, and I will let you know how I get on. ;)

I have not had a Pinot for years so thought I would try one on my birthday with a nice duck red curry. And I only have this wine because it came in a Fo mixed dozen. I must say that I am quite impressed and look forward to buying some more. Other readers of this thread may even suggest another worth trying.

Nothing wrong with a good Yarra Valley wine...

What is it about duck and Pinot? They're just made for each other.

May I suggest Waipara Springs Pinot. The 2009 vintage was exceptional. So exceptional it was served at the Queens Diamond Jubilee. It's hard to find now. The other vintages are good too you can get it, but take the 09 if you can get it. In Adelaide you might struggle to get it Buzzard but the do retail through some boutique outlets in BNE.

(Waipara Springs is not to be confused with the mass producer across the road Waipara Hills which is drinkable but not special.)

Now I think I need to have Peking Duck tonight... pity I can't get into the "premier" restaurant here, will need to go to my second choice.

Had this for lunch today (thanks Dad):
Good provenance.

Actually had 2 (there were 5 of us drinking). We aerated one and decanted the other. Tried the taste test - we all agreed the aerated was better.

That's terribly unscientific. Could have just been general bottle variation. You would need to test them both prior to confirm they were identical. Now please repeat this experiment (purely for your benefit). In fact, should do best 3 out of 5 just to be really sure :)

I like your thinking :D but I had to drive...but there is the availability in Dad's cellar to repeat the experiment with changes to the methodology.

Terribly unscientific - but that's what you get with an engineer, a lawyer, a doctor and 2 financial planners in a room ;)

So an engineer, a lawyer, a doctor and 2 financial planners walked into a cellar, and the engineer said to the doctor ...

The engineer asked where the keg was?

The doctor went for the red and the financial planners tried to estimate the value of the cellar?
