Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

I finally summoned up the courage to open the only bottle I have of the infamous SUXX McLaren shiraz that I have had kicking around for ages (it's 2008), it was a gift from someone who knew I liked rather large reds and in particular shiraz-based wines. Why did it require courage? Well the Suxx weighs in at 17.6% alcohol and I've been a tad concerned that the top of my head was going to lift off! Suffice to say my cranium is still intact as are my taste buds but wow what a wine! Viscous and still dark and opulent in colour this wine has aged beautifully, 'smooth' is possibly an over-used adjective but that is what it is, slippery and velvety and fully fruit-driven. I feel like Brer Rabbit who has fallen into the blackberry patch but instead of emerging bloody and bruised I've simply had my mouth stained with its purple-black goodness, I could carry on all day with my wine-infused ramblings but suffice to say it was memorably good and I'm saddened that I've now polished off the only one I had kicking around...(BTW I discovered that Chris Ringland was the winemaker since drinking it which only lends more weight to the wine) As a footnote I've had to pinch someone else's photo online as the ones that I took can't be exported from my device - never mind) cheers dears.....

Have you tried the mollydooker boxer shiraz? or the other variants? They too come with similar attributes and flavour characteristics.

These have been the inbibed quaffers from my wine rack in the last week

Had my final Tolpuddle and thought of you Steady (as I'm sure you put me onto it :D through my first purchase at Langtons).

If you like Chris Ringland wines then this might interest (email from Langtons this morning):

I'm interested but already have too many Shiraz at the moment to drink. Might pick some up for clients though :D.

Well that was the best of my wines I drank this week Steady. It didn't make it into my wine fridges, so it had to be quaffed.

Just spoke to our mutual broker and picked up 2 dozen of the Barossa wines above. That should help you out as well :D

He offered me some more Tolpuddle ;) and put my name down on the "interested list" for the Vintec offer later in the year...

Only 2 Doz.... you can do better than that ;)

What did you think of the '15 Tolpuddle? Have you had any other vintages?

(I am a fan of it)

Last Tuesday of the month's blind wine tasting in Brisbane. Six reds chilled to a drinkable temperature. Not merlot, but sideways!

Tasting note better than mine! Tempranillo
IMG_4773.jpg
Blackberries, charcuterie and firm tannins beginning to mellow.

Blackcurrants and a hint of mint. No tell-tale red capsicum. Fine grippy tannins. Still in its infancy. Won't be opening any of mine for another 5+ years!
