Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Traditionalists and Purists look away now!

I was lucky enough to secure a spot on the Sami-Odi members list for the just released Mahe & Ribo Syrah 2015. And this:

the Sami-Odi Little Wine #6

The whole experience of this wine, from the branding to the unique taste left me giving a Mad-as-a-Barossa-Brush Wozza 95/100 (4.2/5.0)!

It's so left of field. But in a good way. I really enjoyed it. And I can see it getting better with 7-10 years age.

I've blogged on it here with my full tasting note: https://2blokesintrouble.wordpress.com/2017/02/23/too-cool-for-school/

If you want to try this for yourself, you can get it here: Sami-Odi 'Little Wine' #6 Syrah - Wine » Red - Oak Barrel | Shop

Yes, we're mostly "very rarely don't feel like a drink during the week"...for me, I only drink on days ending in "y" - so long as you aren't drinking a bottle per night.

12 months since my last one of these, progressing nicely. I picked 6 up to qualify for my first Vintec, a small one, mid '14. Slightly creamy vanilla oak, dusty tannin, bright fruit. The finish is medium to medium long. It is distinctly Penfolds, I like it.

Just hitting its straps. No alcohol heat despite the 15%. Under rated IMHO.

Something different. Surprisingly yellow, almost the colour of a sticky. Savoury and dry, with more oomph than the Murdoch James Pinot Gris we tasted it against. Great food wine.

Last night we made 2 bottles of the newly released 2014 Diana Madeline a bit rarer. It was pretty good.

Cove, never tried one yet but have been putting away a couple of the 2011, 2012 and 2013 - which would you open for the OTWN?

Baiden I would start with the 2011 or you could get a crowd of AFFers to help make all those dates a little more rare.

In a previous lifetime and another city some friends and I did start up a tasting club, SIP (wine club) - my name being last. The alternative arrangement of initials wouldn't meet the standard we aspired to.
Maybe I need to revisit this one day.....
