Visited some friends in the Grampians a couple of weeks ago and picked up a Pinot Noir vertical from Bests: 1994, 95 and 96. The 94 has held up wonderfully, lots of strawberry and cherry still but secondary characters taking over.

Celebrating (commiserating?) signing our lives away this morning with a 2008 Brown Brothers SMC.

It certainly was a great buy at $34. Especially when Brown Brothers re-released this wine a couple years ago at $80/bottle

Hell no, I was already quite happy by that stage both from the wines and the result and I needed to arrive home in a reasonable state, so my drinking stopped ~3.30pm. My clients and their friends at the table kept drinking until stumps. I don't want to know what their bill ended up being by that stage.

Hi Steady. The 2008 Kate Hill Pinot Noir was a real surprise in a good way. Heaps of dark fruits, full bodied with nicely balanced fine tannins giving impressive length. Good now but could hold for another 5+ years easily.

Luscious black fruits, plum and cassis with smoky overtones and dusty tannins. Yummy now! 75% shiraz/11% cab sauv/ 8% merlot and a splash of cab franc

Crimson hue, spicy black fruits, medium weight to palate. Seamless.
