Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

my favourite. Good news?

It's pretty high on my list too.

Good news..... Na, that's a common misconception - you don't need to wait until you have good news to drink Bollinger - I just decided today is a good day to celebrate :-)

Small state - big address - 'sigh'

Following a Google search of that address I can confirm I was not drinking Bollinger tonight because of visiting a car wash / dog wash in Launceston tomorrow?
It really was just because I can.

Next time I am up that way I will make an effort to look it up though and will gladly use it as an excuse to open another :-)

I can absolutely vouch for the Cabernet/Syrah reserva privada from these guys (also at VC). Usually around $20, it's fantastic quaffer quality/value when it drops down to $15. I need to give the Carmenere a try by the sound of it!

An update on above - VC has halved the normal price ($22) in the latest cellar press, and still kept the buy 2 get 1 free promo on them. Got 6 bottles for $40 after a 10% 'buy 6' discount -extraordinary value for a great quaffer :)

We currently have a house guest from Victoria who decide a 35 degree day in Darwin warranted a celebration. Hard to fault the logic.

I'm an infrequent drinker of bubbly and rarely actual champagne, but this was very good.

It was floral on the nose and as you can see from the pic has a nice buttery colour. The bubbles themselves were not a fine misty type, but a little larger which made this drop seem a little smooth going down.

On the palette it was crisp and fruity, yet developed. It was screaming cool climate Chardonnay so I was surprised to find it is 40% Pinot. There was no lingering acidic traces that you sometimes get with Australian bubbles and this made it very drinkable.

At the price my guest paid ~$55, it's a French vintage drop that will challenge some of the upper end NV sparklings.

Somewhat off topic, but I was not allowed to open a 2001 bottle of red last night, as being young and female, I couldn't possibly do it properly... was mighty unimpressed

:shock::shock: That raises the obvious question: who were the troglodyte males you were in the company of :evil:.
