Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

While out kayaking today we saw plenty of ducks. That made me hungry and decided Peking duck was in order, hence needed the Burgundy. So pulled that out. Then figured I better stand up the Barbaresco for tomorrow tonight.

These pale against a 1980 Barbaresco but having wine-loving relatives visit is always a good excuse to pull a few out of the cellar.

All were good but the Mont-Redon was brilliant. Luxurious.

What was the Viberti like? I just ordered a few bottles of this the other day. Awaiting arrival.

I'm no expert but I thought it might be still a little young, or maybe I didn't decant it long enough (only 45 mins before drinking... got impatient) as it came across a bit closed to me.

For what it's worth, I still enjoyed it. And if you bought it through the Smashvino deal, great value.

However, would be interested to hear what you think...

Correct about where I purchased it from.

If you have more bottles, decant in the morning and drink in the evening. Barolo (and Barbaresco) is a tough beast. Even the 1980 I had yesterday I decanted for three hours.

Will try crack one in the next couple of months and report back.

Something a little different. A very good Bolivian Cab-Merlot in La Paz tonight. From the Tarija wine region in the S of Bolivia.

I’m sure it will hold for much longer but drinks very well now. Open one and share your opinion ;)

In reference to the 2008 Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiaz...had a bottle (first of six) with lunch today (t-bone steak with a coffee rub). Pretty solid wine. Still quite primary and rich. Very well balanced. Luscious big palate. For me, still too young. Will revisit the next bottle in 3+ years.
