I was just about to post this when I saw my friend had done this review.

did she left the rest of the bottles for your taste group to have a taste?

I've just watched the video again and notice theres a full detail notes on the description HERE.

This is why i like reading the notes, some found it boring but it is something that i'm not good at. here's a little insight of her notes.

she wrote" ...and a fruit profile that dances in and out of the black and red… as rhythmic and unpredictable as a Roulette wheel. "

all i can think of at that time is just "complex".

She isn't part of the same group that JohnM and are I, so sadly no, we didn't get the scraps. She gets to taste with way more serious wine folk than us mere mortals :)

I know what you mean about her descriptors. We have someone in our wine group who I nicknamed the Dennis Cometti of wine based on her ability to describe and tell a story.

you might like to let her know that the two reviewers responsible for driving sales this year were actually Joe Czerwinski and Thomas Girgensohn - Gary Walsh's weren't published until after they had been released and Lamella sold out

that's what good wine writers are meant to do :)

The ones that I wanted are long gone anyway, next year release would be a different story.

I quietly fear for next year's release - the 2018s are getting more attention than these wines have received in the past (and rightly so...), and there's going to be even less made from the low yielding 2019. 2019 is a birth year for me, so I was quietly hoping to snag a magnum or two alongside the usual order :). Just as an aside, I caught Dan as he was paining over when to start picking the 2019s. You could see the angst it was causing him when talking about it - and I really believe it's the attention to these kinds of details that seperate the good from the great - no detail too small to sweat over. Anyhow, I'm breaking my own rule...

Magnums are never on the mailing list, or is there more than 1 mailing list?

Not that I'm aware of. I know they exist as I was able to snap up a 2016 The Standish magnum (another birth year) last time I visited his cellar door. I'll probably shoot him an email closer to release to see whether he's bottling any for the next vintage.

Shhhhhhhhhh..... this is the one we should keep it to ourselves!!

Occasionally dan does flip emails out about this.

I’ve only been buying for 4 years

Next year when you send back your order form, just ask on the email as well and see what dan have to say, but according to wine muller next year might be low crops, might not be any magnums at all, I don’t usually buy magnums so I never asked.

The only thing I don’t like about Standish (and Sami Odi) is the bottle shape when it comes to cellaring. Imagining what a Standish magnum Would look like scares me....
