Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

The Xanadu red that won a gold was incredibly good. Might go looking for a dozen. We had it while dining in Kings Park with a group of olds.
Still getting into WA is tricky so those in Sydney and NSW may just have to get it from a bottle shop.
Worth a try to test you taste buds.

I went to the Roederer tasting at Lamont's Wine Store yesterday. All in all, very good wines. However, for me, Cristal is over priced. Well over priced really. The 2012 Brut Nature on the other hand is amazing. My pick of the wines by a long shot. The 2013 BdB and Brut were also excellent.

We were also informed that they're going to stop makign the brut nature and replace it with something else. That something else is going to be along the lines of the way Krug do their various editions. From what I could gather it seems like there might be more reserve wine in it going forward, but the cynic in me says this is more a marketing activity to distinguish themselves form other brands and an excuse to increase the price a little.

Something a little different tonight. Really lovely cabernet. Cork was still perfectly intact. Glad I have a couple more lying around. View attachment 251242

South Africa really does have some great wines. It's such a shame that what's brought in to Australia is quite often pretty average and the price you pay here is absurd compared to the price in SA.

2018 chardonnay - 2019 M3 similar besides being a year apart - alongside Radikon, Cobaw Ridge Skin Contact possibly the best orange wine i've had yet

+1 how was the Coteaux?

I have a Philosophy - if I buy a six pack I need to try one straight away. The cork looked good, however this was not as smooth as I was expecting for a 2012 vintage…

Thanks for trying this. Incidentally We had a bottle of 2013 yesterday as I was undecided whether to get another sixer of 2012 for $40 odd on eBay special. Quite enjoyed it, thought it was very dry as I like with ample balanced acidity. Pulled the trigger when I saw it also has a diam enclosure for added confidence.

I actually liked the fact that it wasn’t smooth in a good way as I enjoyed its firm and well structured tannins. I would have been disappointed if it was smooth!

Popped open a Maverick GSM last night and it tasted like floral nail polish remover so I moved on to a classic Wynns red.

GSM badly made with wine fault. Send it back.

pick your poison. Probably volatile acidity or diacetyl.

It’s I think the fourth bottle I’ve opened from that case, the others have been fine. Too late to send back, a VM or CM purchase from some time back. But that ok, for $5 or so it’s not worth worrying about. I just picked something better 🙂
