Love the half bottle concept, much better than 50/60ml miniatures some other retailers offer with their tastings.
I personally prefer 100ml/180ml samplers over half bottles - cheaper and more variety. I don't really want to go through two full glasses (even with the significant other) during a taster, rather have a nip and repurchase if I enjoy it.

50ml on the other hand don't work quite as well because it's so little to taste, but helps with cost.

Albe is a tribute to the masters of the 1950s and 60s, to those winemakers who had the vision and the taste to blend some of the most amazing crus in order to achieve a Barolo of balance and charm.

The high-elevation vineyards for Barolo Albe have an exposure ranging from south-south-east to south-west. The grapes are usually picked in the second half of the Nebbiolo harvest. Vinification is made in custom-designed vertical vats, with gentle punch down and pumpovers. Maceration lasts 25 days on average. Malolactic conversion occurs in stainless steel the following spring. Albe rests on average between 30 and 36 months in large (40, 50 and 75hL) Slavonian oak casks. The wine is usually racked once a year. Blending is decided in the spring prior to bottling.

Red cherry, raspberry, roses, almond biscotti, mint and exotic spices. It’s mediumbodied, fresh and bright in red fruit flavour, but with a savoury tobacco and dried herb edge. Tannin is firm, with a fine chalk dust texture, and clean acidity drives it along so nicely. Finish is firm and long, with a pretty perfume as it goes. Charming, yet serious. It’s a really good release.”

Ps. As per @boomy post, generally IMHO 5-7 years is a good cellaring time for these LE Chardonnays.

I do 5 years for Xanadu, Curly Flat and 5-9 for Yabby Lake Single vineyards.

Although with advancing age (human) and etc, sometimes cellaring for the afternoon is acceptable.:cool::p:D:p🥳😎
Interesting perspective @TheRealTMA. I only had older LEs and loved the style. 14 is the youngest I had and my favourite so far so you could be spot on the cellaring time.

Would rather pay less and get less :)

Bream Creek '07, doesn't reach the same heights as the '05 - doesn't have the same depth of flavours and length imo (can't seem to pick up the autolytic notes).

Trying a new champagne and I like it! 70% PN and 30% Chardonnay. Also trying out the new Riedel Veritas champagne glasses. I love this. The perfect mid-point between a flute and tulip style glass. Finally a rather special tawny to end the evening.
