Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Actually @Daver6 the former CEO of Treasury Wines used to stay at the Cove in California so Penfolds was available. We have a wine cool room there with Silver Oak, some bubbles and some Penfolds 128. Have not tried to use MossWood’s international sales. I go to Costco and Bevmo as they are really close by.

It is just so tough when you are in a foreign place and you have to try wines you are unfamiliar with @Cruiser Elite. In the US it took me a while to figure what reds were drinkable.
Was in Mexico last week and bought a random bottle of red to try local, but forgot about it in my carry on and was confiscated at airport security. Maybe I dodged a bullet🙂

I’ve been sitting on this for a while, I think it was part of a VM mixed pack. Very, very smooth.

A night at my parents with my cousin and his son.

Dad brought out this.

It was a present from a neighbour and unknown provenance before it made it to dads wine fridge. Questionable given the ullage and cousin slowly opened but only the top of the cork came out. Very slowly extracted the bottom half and decanted. Nose was showing definitely on the wane, a bit musty and muted. Left for an hour and it opened up a little but we’ll past it’s prime

Ate with some seriously big eye fillets, mushrooms, roasted beetroot and jacket portatoes

Then my cousin (up from Sydney) brought out one that came from his collection. It travelled well.

They were still thirsty and dad went back to his “cellar” under his bar and found an unopened case of 6. Definitely the WOTN. Sadly I could only have a half glass as I was driving. But looking forward to more from that case
