Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Theme for the tasting last night was Bordeaux blends from 2016. Some good wines and some average wines in there.

@Steady saw your comment on CT about the Rustenberg. The one last night was mine purchased at the cellar door. My view mimicked yours. Not sure how it went so wrong with this wine. I recall it was decent at the time of purchase. Also have other vintages previously which showed a lot better than this bottle. Perhaps they just don't age well.

I tried quite a few SA (red) wines in the short time I was there and only one stood out - unfortunately it was at a much higher price point.... If anyone gets the chance I recommend trying Vilafonte Series C

A cold day today so looked for something to warm the coughles. Decided on a musco. Did the job well. But probably one of a very few drinking a wine from Gladstone tonight. From Gecko Valley. They had some good wines and a nice cafe but no TA reviews since 2020 and their website has gone so probably another victim of Covid.

That would have been an intersting tasting.

IMHO - the Cullen Merlot Malbec Petit Verdot of that rough era is probably one of the greatest value Australian wines in a Bordelias-ish style [that I have ever purchased].

What was your WOTN?

Notes posted here Grand Cru (Perth) Tasting Group – Bordeaux Blends from 2016 - The Auswine Forum

The Nightfall was mine and the groups WOTN. The Cullen showed really poorly and faulty IMHO....almost like it had been buried with the cow horn full of poop.

Yes @Daver6 I have had a couple of bottles fail. Had the DM replaced. Have been happy with the 2020 MossWood and now have only two left.
The group I took 2 bottles to thought the MossWood was a winner.
