Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Something a little different from Andre Clouet and I love it! Andrew Clouet un de joir 1911. Disgorged June 2023 and been on lees for 10 to 12.5 years! 100% Pinot Noir from Bouzy. Exceptionally fresh. Nose of bruised apples, almonds, brioche. Slightly oxidative. Palate is lively and long with similar notes to the nose. Really fine mousse. So balanced with tertiary and primary characteristics. Reminds a little of an aged bottle of Krug. Worth seeking out IMHO.

One annoying thing. Comes packaged with straw, which just makes a mess. Beautiful bottle though. Attached the spiel that came with it too.

This was gorgeous on its second day. It was one of my first purchases when I started getting into wine about 6 years ago - pretty neat sitting on wine for that amount of time and then getting to reap the benefits of aging… until I realised I’ve aged the same number of years. Wine has brought me a great amount of joy over the last few years, so for that I am grateful.

What glass are you using? Looks like a Gabriel Glass.

I jumped on 6, at under $20 it’s a no brainer but i much prefer Rockford BS or Primo Estate Joseph at full retail

Yep it’s a Gabriel.

Agree that Rockford is better but not by that much IMO. Actually had them side by side once to compare. Seppelt 08 was always a favourite for us and it’s nice to be able to open a bottle on a casual Sunday afternoon without thinking about the cost.

Well I'm rather annoyed. Opened three wines in the last week under cork and all three ruined to a greater or lesser degree by TCA. Grrr!

Wine club tasting on Wednesday night. Theme was wines the Levant plus Greece, Georgia and and of the stans. All wines turned out to be from Turkiye, Greece, Lebanon and Georgia. My two both undrinkable thanks to TCA.

And tonight with dinner. The most minor hint of TCA. Didn't ruin the wine but took away what should have been a solid wine.

I will add that our tasting had 11 people and 14 wines, and they were evenly split 7 white/7 red, so it made for a very interesting night.

Tasting notes: Grand Cru (Perth) Tasting Group – Greek and Middle Eastern Wines - The Auswine Forum

Need I say that while The Kid had a TCA fixation, my Gaia S was red of the night...:p
