Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

The Friday night tipple. A Yalumba The Menzies 2006 Cab Sav enjoyed with a nice steak.

On the new JohnM Simpler and Fairer Highly Technical Wine Evaluation Scale[SUP]Pat. Pend. TM[/SUP]: It is at least B* good without quite being F* awesome. But definitely good enough that blackcat20 has already trawled through the Dans website to find which stores have stock :D

A few years ago I tried to organise a Rockford Basket Press vertical tasting. 10 successive vintages, 10 participants, $100 a head. Astounded there were not 10 interested persons. Maybe I need a new circle of friends.

I'm sure your friends are very good and solid people but .... yes, it appears so.

Put the invite more broadly and I'm sure you'll find a whole new group of best friends!

Just popped this one open to have with slow cooked beef cheeks. Haven't tried it yet but at $7 a bottle I'm sure it will be fantastic.

Saperavi is a Georgian (as in old Soviet Union, not S USA, y'all) variety noted for producing extremely deep-coloured and very grippy red (in fact, saperavi means 'dye' in Georgian.) There's the odd dabbler in it in Australia. The only time I've tried it was at Sam Miranda of King Valley (not far from Brown Bros at Milawa). It's somewhat like Durif, which is common in the N Vic area, in being a very big and deep-coloured wine.
