Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

How is CHC now - is it recovering?
Slowly. Quite a shock to see just how large the impact was. The city I visited in 2007 no longer exists; the hotel I stayed at it the only remaining building in its block, and not for long by the looks. There are whole suburbs that have been bulldozed. They are really more in the clean-up phase still, with some rebuilding just starting. But there is quite a buzz in twin with the cricket etc.

To keep this on topic, we've been hoeing into the Central Otago Pinots while here. We had a lovely Mt Difficulty PN last night with dinner.

I was there 1.5 years ago visiting chchkiwi, and it was very spooky visiting the city again. So many of the places I loved are now rubble, or behind cyclone wire fencing.

I think the CBD area will take at least 10-15 years to recover, and may actually never recover given so many businesses have moved to the fringe now.

My visits was 07 so memories are a little sketchy, with no physical reminders now that most places are gone. It will take time, but itll be awesome once they are back to some version of normal.

Mrs major and I had lunch at the Mt Difficulty Winery last Tuesday and after a suitable tasting we managed to consume one of their PN's...with great difficulty :D:D

Strange? We've had no problem with this Sunday night Pinot.

2009 my duffulty single vineyard Target Gully 2009. Cellared at 14C for 4 years. Drinking superbly. Loverly CO Pinot with nice spice and depth. Delicious.

Some recent plonk at châteaux penegal

Nothing too fancy, but nothing "bad" here... A few quite nice "affordable" numbers here.

The Kreglinger 2004, and Bethany 2002 Shiraz Cab are both drinking beautifully now. Recommenced if anyone is holding any in cellar.
