$NZD110 though...so about $AUD100.

You can get a St Henri 2006 AND a bottle of Chris Ringland Reservation Shiraz 2010 for $99 as part of the "My Dan Murphys" specials this week.

Probably not as good as the 2010 vintage, but also more drinkable now...

We did get an '06. ;)

It was just interesting to see the 2010 available since it's mostly been out of stock since August last year

Not sure why but I buy some each year so I've got a set going back some years. Problem is that I've rarely had a St Henri that I actually thought was worth the money. The 2010 has had excellent reviews however. I believe there was a special offer by the wooden case from Penfolds or TWE last year sometime for (AFAIR) around $480-570 / case... Normally I write the buy date on the case/box but didn't for these.

So this week the theme will be Victorian wines of the 1990s starting with an unusual wine to cellar-

.

The cork was in perfect condition. When first opened the bouquet suggested I might be getting another bottle out of the cellar. But after leaving it in the glass for 20 minutes things changed.A lovely smooth wine.Certainly not the body of an older shiraz but very nice and deserved another B* good rating.

Although I like Chardonnay and don't mind a good Riesling I'm not sure we can be friends if you don't like Pinot Noir and do like Sav Blanc:shock:! Oh well I guess the point is to share our thoughts and become more accepting of people with different tastes :p:)
And to be honest most of my friends do like Sav Blanc and don't like Chardonnay :( What are your feelings towards Champagne AdMEL?
Not that it's a deal breaker... Look at the beautiful relationship QF WP and I have...
Actually....

I only like a small number of Sauvignon Blancs! Many years ago, I liked Sauvignon Blanc and didn't like Chardonnay - now the other way around!

I don't much like champagne, though I didn't mind the champagne I had in VA J PER-MEL about a month ago - no idea what it was though and I didn't recognise the name on the list.

I prefer my bubbles to be of the Australian variety, in Shiraz!

We prefer the Sancerre style.
When we were in the Alice many years ago we went to a vineyard-Chateau Hornsby.Gone now.But it has been replaced-

I quite like some Nuw Zulland Chardonnay!

$NZD110 though...so about $AUD100.

How did you get such a good exchange rate? MasterCard exchange rate is about 1.03 not 1.10! In most cases, the effective exchange rate is 1:1, after fees.

Have you tried Hollicks Sparkling Merlot??? I haven't had it for a while but when I did it was amazing :)

When I picked out this wine from my rack I smiled and thought of drron, kpc, Cynicor and Princess Fiona:

Really enjoyed the medium body, slight front of tongue at the beginning and warming follow through. Second glass was as good as the first.

Good but not one I'd run out and buy a dozen thinking it'll become a world beater

My tipple tonight is a Fifth Leg Whippersnapper Shiraz 2012. The notes on the back are correct - big and bold with youthfulness coming up to catch your breath. Had it with pasta and it went down nicely.

Now the second glass is also going down a treat as I read a legal opinion on my retaining wall - think I'll need it :o

A Coonawarra Botrytis Gewürztraminer I purchased from Vinomofo tonight - well worth the money asked.

Queensland local planning laws are certainly different. When we first moved to the Sunshine coast we had a lot of summer rain. Our backyard flooded.Turned out absolutely no drainage had been put in.Went to the council to find out where I could run drainage lines.I was asked where the water came from-the block on the high side of ours.OK then just run it into the property on the low side!:shock::confused:
So I did a much more labour intensive route to the street.

I had an unopened box of them that I tried to fit in the Vintec. I had to open the box and, er, cull 2. At least the other 4 are happy at 13 degrees :D

I have set my wine fridge at 18° What have others set their's at ?
