Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Wolf Blass Limited Edition Cab Sav 2011 matched with Rib Eye steak tonight.
Although 2011 wasn't a good year for the Barossa IIRC, I really enjoyed this drop after proper decanting.

That is a well made wine from a pretty average year...

I decided to spoil myself tonight-

.

1976-the other 2 can wait.

I'm on the hunt for one of these - my birth year. Any suggestions where to buy from?

Interesting tasting tonight in the QF BNE J lounge - Jacobs Creek Shiraz and Cab Sav Double Barrel 2012 aged in whiskey barrels!

Mrsdrron doesn't drink reds-they precipitate migraines.So when I open a bottle I consume it over 2 nights.Use a resealer thingy.
So tonight a wine that was past it's recommended cellaring time by the Wine Society.A 2000 shiraz from very old Barossa vines they say.Reccomended to cellar until 2010.Well they got that wrong.Probably at it's peak now but unfortunately I took their advice with the other 2 I had.

drron, I think you need assistance from someone of a similar generation who understands these things to help in your mission to cleanse your cellar :!:. Funnily enough, I know just the person ;).

That's OK JohnM, drron already has my details  (or at least thought he did - strangely I haven't gotten a call ....)

You mean that he should be teaching the younger generation to appreciate these things...

I happen to be available for the task ;)
