Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Hi AFF fam. Just wondering if anyone has any great Tasmanian winery recommendations for us to visit on a holiday next week please?

Stefano Lubiana has good cellar door and restaurant.

Home Food was excellent -the wines and food are not cheap but well worth it

Freycinet and Devils Corner on the way between Hobart and Bicheno. Pooley and Nocton in the Coal Valley, Glaetzer-Dixon in Hobart.
Thank you all so much.. great suggestions. We have never been to Tas and not overly familiar with the wines there… yet 💥

For me it was a perfect combination between power and finesse. Not sure if 14 was an exceptional vintage in MR, you will know better. It could be the age although still quite young and I’m actually excited to open another bottle in 3, 5 and 10 years to see how it develops.

In MR, they are all excellent ;)

I need to really avoid this thread on AFDs.

Went to a friend's place for dinner last night. I took the two German's and the 707.

The single vineyard Grand Cru's from Frank Bonville. All vinified the same. Seen no oak, 100% Chardonnay, full malo and the same dosage. Really interesting comparison. The Pur Mesnil showed the best for me. The Pur Oger wasn't quite as expressive as the other two and I suspect suffered a minor fault. Only tiny quantities made with even fewer for the 2014 vintage (will only be 1000 bottles with 90 of those coming in to Australia).

Both these were excellent but the Prum was the standout. Cork for the Prum was soaked through but the wine was still very fresh.

A friend very generously supplied the '86 Grange. Drinking really well now. The 707 I was keen to try as I have a few more bottles. I wanted to know whether I should try flog the remaining bottles given the stratospheric prices you can now get for them. At the time I think I picked it up for $140. To be frank, it's impossible to compare to other Cabernets. The style is so uniquely Penfolds. You can't say its better value or not than other wines. It's different!

This was lovely, but we should have decanted it for at least 30 minutes. Not sickly sweet or cloying at all.

2019 Basket Range Wine Vineyard Blend (Adelaide Hills, SA; Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir) > 2017 Forlorn Hope Queen Of The Sierra Estate Red (Sierra Foothills, CA; Zinfandel, Trousseau, Mondeuse)

How did the collotte compare with the pegasus? I'm assuming you picked it up from the buzz wine sales a few months back?
Collotte more savoury, structured, ageable; Pegasus more luscious, mouthfeel, ready

Also offered at TWC as Mystery (more expensive than DM)

unlike DM, with TWC no need to buy 6pk, and after Cashrewards, $10/$20 voucher, can be cheaper

don't forget oysters from Barilla Bay to/from HBA :)
