There wasn't really a theme. Just some friends gathering to enjoy good food, good wine and good company.

I hear you- why overthink a nice lunch. With my buddies we always choose a theme of the wines just to stop weird stuff turning up randomly which is needed for a couple of the guys. They have the top shelf stuff but they seem to be saving it for their wake.

Yeah a vague theme is always fun too.

This time it was more about knowing the audience and bringing wines I knew they'd appreciate. There were a few Riesling nuts, hence I wanted to share the old German with them.

I do have to say, the thing I love most about wine is the people. I've landed meeting folks from all difference walks of life who I never would have interacted with otherwise. From the mega-rich to the just getting by kinda folks. We've all shared the love of wine and everyone has been incredibly generous with what they've shared.

Hmmmm... My invitation to @Daver6's lunch seems to have - again - gone missing on the pony express.

Never mind, for next Wednesday's wine group tasting The Pest, aka The Kid, will be away. Some sort of 'work' pretence.

But - more time for me to schmooze with MrsDaver6 - and not have to try, with great difficulty, to be polite in rejecting Jura and corked wines that @Daver6 seems so intent to often bring...
