Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Hey there, possibly way out of decorum, just joined site, but after cruising flight things got bored and found this wine thread. I love wine. Not a snob, but value hints. My new local has some "Schild" Barossa GSM at 2 for $32. Trying some now, not unhappy :0 But have never come across this before. Is this a usual pricing?

We had a Bottle of the D’Morgenzon “DMZ” Chenin Blanc 2018 at wine club recently. Not one person got close to guessing it

I took that one and I'm pretty sure everyone pinged it as chenin blanc. However, the theme was South African wines, so that likely made a difference.

Most people went with French

If only I’d known you were there. We were peering in the window last night to see how many were there and then went next door to Delicatessen which was good but not as good as George’s
You may have seen us if you were peering in, we were on the long table near front window

2007 Penfolds Kalimna is drinking nicely.

For this specific bottle, I’ve experimented with an innovative cellaring technique.

The bottle spent most of its life in climate controlled wine fridge.

But for about 36 hours in 2011 and another 8 hours in 2022 it was stored about three metres deep in Brisbane River flood waters. 😉

Hooray for the switch to stelvin.

2016 Domaine Thenard 'Clos du Cellier' 1er Cru | Givry, Burgundy (Pinot Noir)
Picked this up for less than $50 via the online weekly wine clearance at Lamont's wine shop in Cottisloe WA a few weeks ago (worth keeping an eye on their newletter).

Closed on the nose, perhaps a little mustiness which I expect to blow off, Light bodied almost ethereal in weight, intense tart red fruits on the palate with a determined acid line and some faint baking spice. Some pleasing mushroom characters developing in what is a very savoury style. This feels like it will be very long lived, tannins are still very present. I'm surprised that as an 8 year old there is so much longer left to go with this wine but there is promising development. Very impressed, wish I'd bought a case rather than 6. Polar opposite in style to an Australian PN. No overt sweetness, fruit quality is very good and complex enough without being too ripe and the acid line is a breath of fresh air. @billbro for reference

That reminds me. I should go collect mine that I ordered. Although still waiting on a couple of other bottles to arrive in store.

I'm not seeing any discounted so not sure the details.

Ah. I just looked here Weekly Wine Specials | Exclusive Offers at Lamont's Cottesloe — Lamont's Cottesloe and didn't see it.

I'm sure I've tried it at a tasting there previously but nothing stands out in my mind about it. For $70 I doubt you're going to go wrong. I trust JJs palate and notes. So perhaps use his notes as a the guide.
