No J classics online / JASA costs [temporarily] jumped dramatically

Sadly, this looks like a permanent change...ASAs are no longer coming up at the cheaper rate when the corresponding classic award class is available...Looking at LON-SIN in Business it still shows the 2 fare columns Business Saver (with U class being available) and Business but at over 600K points...

:-C

Well, I'm waiting in the feint hope that QF fix the IT issue (wishful thinking:rolleyes: perhaps). I was going to get on for BNE/PER or vv on 15 May or 17 May. Looks like it might be a paid red e-deal instead (or an AA J award instead).

Haven't bothered to look at the points, probably don't have enough :o:oops:

I loved the JASA BNE/PER one way at about 200k points with a "hurry" beside it.
I am trying now to not look at the QF site until next week as last time it took about 4 days to fix the JASA point numbers.

With only 13,376 AA points, I might need to buy some in the 20% off sale just to get the points for the J award :o.

200K ...hmm, definitely don't have that many :D - maybe they'll drop me off over ADL as they fly past.

hahaha - so true! Love that "hurry" - as if anyone in their right minds would book something like that.

i'm the same - I won't bother looking at it for a few days, but sadly I get the feeling it's still going to be the same - the days of 20K JASA SYD-MEL look like they are gone...

I am still holding out hope it's a glitch...

Look like it's may be an IT issue and has just been fixed now. Most of the cheap JASA fares do come back (I did a check an hour ago all these JASA fares still quoted skyrocket high!!). Can anyone verify? My guess is there may be a bug in the IT system or the system is under maintenance or upgrade today but just completed now.

So pleased I snuck my MEL-SIN-MEL FASA in at the old price, apparently just in time. Booked the outbound (for April 2012) 2 or so weeks ago, then decided to return on a certain date. The day that date's ASAs became available (last week) it was a humungous (~500K points) price, but luckily for me the previous day was still available at the 'old' price (~118K points, though I opted for 90K and cash).

I suspect from reading here that may have been the last 'cheap' ASA date available (speculation of course as they were the only ones I was checking).

I do hope this is not a permanent thing. As has been noted, QF really needs to be looking for ways to hang onto people at this stage, with the competition apparently having big plans.

Edit: Noted that from recent posts maybe things are changing back for the better - certainly hope so.

Which fares/dates were you looking at?

I'm not seeing any of the worthwhile prices on the standard routes from PER that I've just searched... :(

I do however still hold hope, as the Any Seat Award details state:
The seats made available for Classic Awards on Qantas flights may also be obtained through the Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award booking process (although points required are usually higher, and include surcharges, fees and taxes). Different conditions apply to Any Seat Awards. Members can still choose to obtain those seats as Classic Awards in a separate booking.
A particular itinerary may be available as more than one Award Type (ie Qantas & Partner Classic Awards or Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards). Points required for each Award Type for the same itinerary may be different and each may have different fare conditions. The booking process for each Award Type may be different.

vice versa for me - still somewhere between 191K and 257K, with non-directs up to a jaw shattering 357K - even turning up the dial to 95K points (my balance), they want $1,460 - not going to happen

Can't correlate your figures either a340_300, just checked CBR/MEL/HBA and 126K to 127K still (hope you booked it if it was!)

Sure it wasn't red e-deal you were looking at?

Same here; I've tried many iterations to no avail.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I see some difference in the next few days, or else it'll be the LAN J to AKL or the FJ run to NAN for me I think...

still not fixed from what i see - SYD/MEL JASA 79K points from the usual 20K - there is U class seats on flights I checked...

i would disagree with the "no policy change"

It states clearly in the terms and conditions of ASA that classic awards can be purchased as ASA, i dont believe that this is still available.

Anyway we are getting side tracked, weather it is policy change or not it impacts alot of QFF members, it makes sense to clear up or announce any changes that will impact a large amount of QFF IMO.

Sorry I've missed that in the T&C. I'll have another look later (just about to get a plane)

I do however still hold hope, as the Any Seat Award details state:

Ok I'm going blind, I just can not find this information that is being referred to and quoted. Could you provide a link at all.

I did find this from the T&C:
13.2.1 The number of Points required to redeem an Award Flight, and the Fare Conditions applicable to that Award Flight, may be different depending on the type of Award Flight chosen (ie Qantas & Partner Classic Award or Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award). It is recommended that Members consider each Award Flight type before making a booking

Which does say that ASAs may cost more points, which is exactly what is happening.

I also found the general ASA page, and I just cannot see anything that says ASA have to book as classic awards.

I'm seeing JASA fares for 22k each way syd - mel on 21st of sept just randomly tried it

maybe this is affecting some FF members and not others?
