I'm seeing JASA fares for 22k each way syd - mel on 21st of sept just randomly tried it

maybe this is affecting some FF members and not others?

78K Here.

Whats your FF Status? Have you flown on a JASA ticket before?

I'm bronze at the moment, haven't flown on a JASA before but have 4 booked in over the next 3 - 4 months so don't know if that will impact on things?

Ok I'm going blind, I just can not find this information that is being referred to and quoted. Could you provide a link at all.
I was getting my info from the Award Types page, where my quote comes from the 3rd paragraph of the notes/important info at the bottom of the page.

I'm only getting 78K as well.

I'm not seeing that at all. The JASA on 21 Sept are 78283. The red-e-deal YASA are 20k to 26k. JASA is a business Any Seat Award. :?:

Thanks. Ummmm......

There's also some good, hope-giving material in the Qantas FAQ/Help part of the site:

Comparing Qantas and Partner Classic and Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat says:
The seats made available for Qantas & Partner Classic Awards on Qantas flights may also be obtained through the Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award booking process (although points required are higher, and include surcharges, fees and taxes). This allows Members to combine fares, consolidate fees and book all seats within the one booking. Different conditions apply to Any Seat Awards. This may be helpful when Qantas & Partner Classic Awards seats are available for part of your trip and you wish to use a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award for the rest of your trip – but the choice is yours how you wish to obtain the seats.
This suggests that the Classic Award seats that are still available should/could be available as ASAs as well.

Choosing between a Qantas and Partner Classic Award and a Qantas or Jetstar Any Seat Award asks:
I am getting quoted the same number of points for a Qantas and Partner Classic Award and a Qantas or Jetstar Any Seat Award. How do I know which Award Flight is best for me?
This clearly implies that some ASAs should be roughly the same as Classic Awards, which is what we're chasing.

Hmm this makes me think that this disconnect where the Classic Award fare classes are no longer available for ASA bookings is just for Silver and above, which then leads me to think that it must be related to yesterday's (4th May) roll-out of preferential access to Classic Awards to Silvers.

I dare say that this change in the system is what's causing the problems and why Bronze is unaffected?

An additional data point from your original poster. at 02:00 Friday. 06 05 11
1. My platinum a/c has had crazy JASA prices for 3 days now. Same cost distortion that I reported originally on April 19th. Eg SYD-BNE one way - 80k ish. June ish dates.
2. Sign in with my sons Bronze status a/c; same flights /dates - there are bucketloads of JASA's for 23k !!

Comment - interesting QF response to possible business class competition - removing a benefit from most valuable regular customers, without even knowing about it, twice in 3 weeks.

Happy travels, John.

Bring back JASA's!

Confirmed - less availability of saver/flex fares, but red e-deals YASAs and JASAs at only marginally inflated points prices (11k/22k), in line with the recent fare increases.

I'd hope now that this an error affecting elite FFs who have greater award availability, rather than another special enhancement for us. But I do worry that our having called attention to it means the NBs will soon suffer the same fate. :-|

Well I just logged on as a Bronze flyer account and sure enough there are seats all over the place on Classic and JASAs at normal rates of 36k plus $24 or 44k and no fee with SCs.
Now this is a relatives account and neither I as a Gold nor my wife as a Platinum can get them at those rates.in fact our offers average 5 times the Bronze rate for
BNE-PER on Monday 16th May.
Not a good look Qantas!

Logged on to our 2 accounts just now.Plenty of BNE-SYD classic awards for 6/11 which I looked at last night.

However when I go to any time awards on mrs.dr.ron's account(WP) it comes up no awards available that day.

On my account(QPNB) it comes up with award availability but only shows YASAs. But starting at 31000 points.
Strange indeed.

How bizarre... Has anyone reported this information to QF??

I just got off the phone with Qantas and I'm no clearer as to what's going on.

I'm a Gold FF with a current points balance of 2,000 points. For a CBR-HBA JASA (QF795, QF1011, QF1020, QF771) on Saturday 3 September I get a total points cost of ~254,266 points.

My mother-in-law is a Bronze FF with a points balance of just over 40,000. For the exact same route on the exact same day she is seeing a total cost of ~51,944.

The lady I spoke to at Qantas said she thought because I had 'less than the minimum needed for an ASA' it was using the 'points plus pay booking engine', hence the high points cost.

Seems very strange as I have more then enough points for the JASA but still see over 250000. So unlikely to be the reason... Just shows how the staff at QF have no idea either (or they are not allowed to tell anyways).

Wow - this is definitely status related.

I tried SYD-MEL under my account which is Plat - JASA 78K

logged out and used by brother in law - just Bronze - did same search JASA 22K

What is going on???
