Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

Don't talk about chauffeur transport when first and business class passengers are cramped into buses to transfer from Terminal 3 to International. could more consideration be given and transport them in cars instead. I have nothing against buses but they tend to move when the bus is fully cramped.

I doubt that it would be practical - or safe - to have an endless stream of cars travelling that circuitous route across taxiways and around the perimeter of the airport! What is really needed is an underground tunnel with a shuttle train.

They already do it at FRA and MUC for F class. Can be lots of fun when your driver tries the 'beat the oncoming plane' routine :)

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

Very disappointing from Qantas.
I used the service even though it was very hard to actually book it and and confirmation. At one point I was inclined to go back to my own CD arrangements given how difficult it was to book. No doubt "take up" was affected by that process.
Then to remove it from those already booked is just breathtaking.

Does anyone know of any good service provider in LA? My CD has, obviously, been cancelled and I need to make my own arrangement. I can rent a car (as I have done in many occasions), but I will just need a ride when I land and then a ride back to the airport 5 days later; rental for 5 days might be a bit overkill...

Indeed. The whole process left me with the impression - "[-]please[/-] bugger off and organise your own bloody car"

Try Naturalimo: Eco-Friendly Limousine, Los Angeles CA. I've used them a couple of times. Friendly, punctual and reasonable rates.

This is the company that HAD the QF contract at LAX Limousine New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas

I've used them a fair bit. Reliable and friendly.

I might add - my booking is still showing

Of course, when I click, it says i'm not eligible.

Nice rubbing salt into the wound Qantas.

which leads to this question... how is it possible for Qantas to exclude ALL premium award availability unless you complete a second step specifically select them, but is able to leave chauffeur drive on every screen even if you're not eligible?

Only from CBD or Melbourne Hotels. Doesnt have an option from home location.

I was thinking at the other end, plus you can contact the co. for alternate pickup address.

That, and all current flight bookings, is the part of the picture I am really having trouble coming to terms with.

Right. If someone has rationally weighed up the cost of lost goodwill versus the savings for advance bookings and it still made sense to them, then I really fear for the future.

I totally agree. I would have thought legally the removal on existing bookings is open to question. Where will it end? What next? How many steps before something along these lines can happen;

'Dear SydneySwan

I am afraid the Red e-deal you purchased to Melbourne on QF400 next Friday has been withdrawn as too many bookings were accepted in this price bucket. We have managed to preserve your booking on the same flight but this has incurred a price adjustment of $150 and we have debited the same credit card used for the original booking so that you are not inconvenienced.

Yours sincerely, QF Customer Service'.

I think someone who has been affected by losing the CD service on a booking made prior to its withdrawal should contact the ABC program 'The Checkout'. I am sure they could have fun with this and I doubt Qantas would find it too funny.
