Okay so a newbie question

Say I am looking at Canberra-Hobart...

But I can find a flight that is
Canberra-Sydney
Sydney-Hobart

That is two separate flight numbers but for low number of points...

Doing something like this

I can earn 180 SC for 32000 points and $182

Sound good for my first JASA ?

Sorry to be a newbie but I have only booked one JASA in my lifetime ..... and now I am looking a quick FASA somewhere in a few weeks time, and it says this:

Points and Status Credits are not earned when travelling on Qantas Any Seat Awards. Classed as First when Status Credits are earned on this fare.

Sooo should I still assume ffp/sc will still be earnt even though the above was given during the booking process.

I had this recently with a booking ex BKK.
Points and credits posted as normal within 2 days.

Yes.
Can you get MEL in there based on availability as well?

Yes on certain days but the number of points required has been huge

Dumb question if I may............How do you work out the number of SC's you will earn on the JASA flight once you get to the end of the booking process and see the number of points and amount of charges the JASA flight will cost you. ????

Put the individual flight routings in to the points earning calculator:

If you are logged in it will show you the actual points your status earns!

Of course, that only works for routes Qantas thinks it flies - not for other routes (like MEL-BKK).

To do that, it's even easier to plug your routing into the "Oneworld Explorer Validator" box on MileageMonkey (http://www.slfft.org/mm/award.htm), click "[] Ignore errors (for expert users!)" and select go.

Read off the SC's from the "Biz" column from the table that appears at the bottom.

I just picked up a JASA this morning, CBR-SYD-BNE for 16,000 Pts + $175.00, thought I should get in before others gobble them up.

Well I did my JASA run from TSV-BNE-DRW-BNE-TSV this week. All in a day - I was in TSV for work so took a day off to sit around in J. In hindsight I wish I'd stayed overnight in DRW just to break it up, it was rather tedious in the end especially with poor IFE in the 767. How many times can I watch the same cut down Spicks and Specks episide? That centre projected screen is always washed out looking. Then they showed 'Arthur'.... but I digress... I'll write a trip report separately.
Anyhoo the SCs got credited by yesterday so no delay there (within two days of travel). Got the loyalty bonus as well and now I'm 225 SCs from WP by the end of October with 90 SCs booked in the next two weeks. But we have two weeks holidays at the end of this month (all on points) so I've got to pull in the remaining 135 SCs in the last three weeks of October. Hmmm. LAN J to AKL or DRW again?

Really wish I'd done it during the double SCs period!

You're waiting to do the calculation after you've made the booking :shock: Wow, what fortitude.

I had to do it before I made my bookings

Thanks for the links to the status point calculators - I just google the distance between the two points and then look it up on the status credits table: Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Status Credits

If you use this site you can see how far it is from your home town to other places - handy when you need a certain number of points and so are looking for somewhere just far enough away... Distance Calculator - How far is it from Sydney – New South Wales – Australia... also throws up destinations you might not have thought of.

Will remember the Qantas and Mileage Monkey calculators for future use... thanks again.
