Noooooo, just when I need to find BNE/PER or vv.

Oh, that's right, I'm a Moderator...but I just can't force myself to do it, having too much fun seeing all these FF points being spent and retained or increased status from members

Good ASAs are out there, a little more scarce than usual but that's to be expected given the increase in award availability to lower levels and the recent upgrade changes.

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

Golly I love QF offering JASA's and markis10's "how to book them" instructions. Have a need to visit clients in PER in a couple of weeks and when looking at the availability, could get no reasonable direct flights BNE/PER on Sunday 14th (well, an 8.20am using 45K points, returning 80 SC's and 5K points; or the OMG:shock: (194K) points ones for all the later flights that day.

Kept scrolling down the available options and found BNE/ADL/PER (QF 663 & QF 599) - the YASA was showing 36K points and the JASA 54K points. Well, no prizes for guessing which one I took - ended up selecting 45K points + $289.05 - all up with cc fee and carbon offset, $300.94 - about the same cost as a red e deal on the direct flight.

140 SC's coming my way - that'll make Gold requal a lot easier this year.

 Not happy QF.

After my booking yesterday (unfortunately I didn't take screen shots before I accepted, but I wrote down the details above), I got an email from QANTAS EXPRESS TICKET at 6.35pm with fare details:

YOUR AIRLINE RECEIPT:
FARE: AUD 545.00 *THIS IS A TAX INVOICE*
TICKET TAXES: AUD 39.51
AUSTRALIAN GST: AUD 58.45 FARE/TICKET TAXES ARE SUBJECT TO GST
FARE/TAX TOTAL: AUD 642.96
APT LEVY: AUD 0.00 (THIS LEVY IS NOT SUBJECT TO GST)
TOTAL: AUD 642.96

What the????? Amex card has also been billed for the same amount. Do I go to QF Res first to argue?

Did they take any points out of your account?

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

Not yet, which also surprised me a bit - I thought they came out when ticketed. Still on hold - haven't spoken to a CSA yet. Also, I got an e-ticket last time I flew a JASA on 15 May BNE/MEL/PER - where it was $157.70 all in + 59,248 points. Not this time...

I suppose that if this sticks, then I'll need to use Hilton & PC points to reduce the cost of the trip.

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

Sounds to me as though it has taken cold hard cash for the whole lot, rather than points + pay.

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

Double ouch for the cash but at least you are coming to Perth.

oz_mark, a conceivable outcome. I have the points required, so it isn't the problem.

Now I'm not unhappy with the cost for the trip, if no points are also going to be deducted...or as long as the booking doesn't go wrong at check in.

Actually, most pax would be happy to pay what they have charged me ;-)
I had to hang up after 20 mins on hold, will try tonight.

If you have been ticketed and had no points deducted then thats what happened, points come out of your account leading up to ticketing, not after.

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

Maybe its a new enhancement, noticed a few changes lately with QFF, including the removal of all non real bookings from my bookings page (vouchers).

I bit the bullet on a FASA last Friday and it went though at the classic points $ cost as expected.

LAN shows the fare basis as PBPASROW .

re: ( Now gone) "how do I book a J any seat award at classic award points level" thread.

As QF were generous with not taking points for my JASA above and instead have given me a really cheap J fare, I've been able to use those points for my return JASA(PER/MEL/BNE) - again, $296.75 fare + carbon offset ++ 45K points. Nice little earner, 140 SC's and 5K points.

Thankfully, this time they got it right (and I'd printed out a copy of the QF ASA payment page in case it didn't happen). An e-ticket with the right information
has arrived.

Hard to keep up that level of luck when I will only have 15K points left after the PER trip. Yes, 280 SC's for the month will be good, leaves me only 70 SC's short of SG renewal with 6 months to go. No, can't see getting to WP before 28 Feb :(

The way I look at it, the BNE/ADL/PER flight cost is a once-off bonus from QF - like an upgrade at BP scanning time :D

Well thanks to this excellent thread I've just booked TSV-BNE-DRW JASA return in a day:shock: for 71 000 points. I was heading to TSV for work and had a spare day so booked it in. Wish the double SCs were still going though. However I need 555 SCs by end of October to reach WP for the first time. So this gives me 280?
The SYD-TSV return gives me 50, I'm also flying SYD-DRW in early Sept (40 SCs) and then SYD-BNE-TSV return again soon after (50 SCs). Then it's only 135 to go... Better work on that.

Booked my first JASA the other day, wasn't the one I wanted though, as I waited too long and ZQN-MEL-BNE went fast, but via SYD it was still available and I'm now 36,000 points lighter, but expect a few thousand back along with SC's, oh and only cost an extra NZD$170, quite good value for something that usually costs $1500!

Now to get some more life insurance? :p

Nicely done. Just make sure you got a good contingency plan on the ZQN side, but I believe you've got that covered.

Should be nice to fly ZQN-SYD in J, considering that there'll be a lot of holidaying folk in tow that might just be good to get away from. Hope Jetconnect have got nice service to go with it.
