Now You're Flying Virgin Australia

If they do keep the Velocity name, they might want to tell Delta that Velocity = Virgin Australia so that people don't keep getting turned away from the lounges. Oh and they might want to tell them that Virgin Blue = Virgin Australia too!

Little bit of a OT question, but are QF and Woolies locked into a contract with the EDR scheme? Can VA team up with Woolies for a CC rewards program, or do they pretty much have to go down the Coles route?

Maybe the logo will look nicer in silver or gold once the post-login logos are updated? ;)

I was thinking to myself, who would be dumb enough to not realise Virgin Blue = Virgin Australia, or Velocity = Virgin Australia or Virgin Blue...

Then I realised we were talking about Delta lounge dragons...

Not knowing the details of their contract, I'd still put money on it that there would be an exclusive agreement that excludes deals with other airlines. Particularly with so much co-branding (EDR, EDR Woolworths-Qantas credit card, websites etc). Too much money invested for QF to allow Virgin to come along and steal this part of their market.

I think all the rumours so far have been of a Fly Buys re-launch with Velocity and Coles to compete head to head with QF and Woolies. This is my prediction as well, but who knows, we might be surprised!

Lol - yes this was a reference to the other thread were people have been told "Virgin Blue gold can come in but Velocity Gold can't"!

Um hello it's the same - pretty poor for it not to be set up in their systems correctly, so I hope that VA do specifically communicate this info to them.

I agree that it's likely this new 'logo' is an interim solution before they relaunch Velocity Rewards with a new, more easily recognisable name (i.e. something that actually infers that it's Virgin Australia's frequent flyer program). Velocity means nothing to many Australians, for a start.

Speaking of design, I must say I was disappointed that the DJ website wasn't redesigned before the relaunch last week. A new site would go a long way in overhauling the old LCC image.

All mentions of The Lounge on the website seem to refer to it as the Virgin Australia Lounge. Will this be the new name? I was hoping for something a little more imaginative like Australian Airlines' Flight Deck Club....

I hope they do end up with Coles, (near my work, always buying lunch staples then groceries for home), I always get asked about fly buys, me never having signed up to it, it would be good to one day say yes

The small version of this I guess, which may have already been posted? (just reading through the last pages now)... its popping up all over their site now

edit: Actually, I see they've changed the link of the image that was posted a few pages back, which is why I was confused

one is http, the other is https at the moment

HTTP Secure - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

yeah sorry I shouldve been more detailed :)

the difference between the logos they have there at the moment is the http and https

EDIT: They literally just changed it, hence the double images.... they're on to us!

Double EDIT: I took the pictures down as they were showing the same thing now... before one was showing the old and one the new

Triple Edit: They keep changing the pics... weird one, now its back to the red V for the http but still the new one for the https

also the join Velocity rewards with only the V and plane full circle around it is changed again, maybe its an automated change or they are probably just testing how it looks

Does Velocity offer award seats on domestic services for Premium Economy and now also Business Class on the SYD-PER? Doing a search it only shows award seats in Economy...other fare types only shows the higher level any seat award level?

Not at this point in time, but I'm hoping that it will happen with the Velocity revamp (and speculating that this will be the case).

For a while there were "PE taster" upgrades available - for $35 or 3900 points you could upgrade from a flexible fare to PE within 3 hours prior to departure, but I don't think this is available anymore. This has been the only option to use points for a premium class with DJ. You can use points for PE and J on V Australia though.

Thanks pshepvic!

Appreciate your detailed reply - I thought that was the case. I used the PE taster last year on a SYD-OOL.

Hope with the program revamp we can redeem in Premium cabins for domestic flights.

Cheers,

New Safety Video for Virgin Australia on youtube...

YouTube - Virgin Australia A330 Safety Video.mov

Almost identical to the 777 video, with the obvious adjustments...uniforms and interiors.

It would be nice if they used this on the 737's also...even without the video component the audio could still be played...would be more professional and far better than the cabin crew manually reading, which I personally think is a very old way of doing things...VA is now new and modern, so lets get this great safety video/audio onto the 737s!

Interesting that they have gone with a coloured Aussie flag on fuselage, rather than they grey version, given earlier AFF discussions.

mmm.seems more demeaning to pax than the qf one that evryone hates!! and includes a shameless self promotion of richard b..
interesting to note the 'coloured' virgin on the fuselage...the infant not having an infants seatbelt on for takeoff..the masses of room between the y/c seats to stow ur luggage......at least the qf safety video more accurately portrays each scenario!!
