Ahhh yes, I heard the safety video would be the same as on VA's 777.

The link has been taken down, but I'm assuming there are very little changes from the V Aus version?

Interesting that they have gone with a coloured Aussie flag on fuselage, rather than they grey version, given earlier AFF discussions.

If the video is a modified version of the current V Australia 777 demo, then they've probably used the same external "shots". V Australia has a coloured flag...

I think EY is their 'European' partner. Using AUH as a hub provides plenty more one stop options to destinations in Europe than say FRA, CDG or LHR....
So for the people that avoid middle eastern carriers like the plague the answer is that VA is not the airline for you?

It's popped up again: YouTube - Virgin Australia A330 Safety Video 2011

Of course, that'll probably vanish as well. The external shot shows the new livery on the tail, so it's definitely been customised quite substantially. I know almost nothing about animation, but it seems they've kept quite a few of the characters and changed the backgrounds etc. to suit.

For travel to Europe -- basically, yup.

Virgin Atlantic will get you to London - though only ex Sydney, they recognise and give points towards VA status and have quite a nice lounge at the London end.

You can also go east to LHR via LAX with VA and VS respectively, that trip is around 25 hours hours flying time ex. SYD as a rough guess (excluding time on the ground) and the price is more or less the same as the VA/EY flights via AUH at times

And would probably add alot more points & status credits.

Images - screen grabs from above mentioned video link

You'll find that this video was based on the safety video that was originally created for the VA 777, hence the coloured flag. I certainly wouldn't be reading too much into it.

mmm.seems more demeaning to pax than the qf one that evryone hates!! and includes a shameless self promotion of richard b..
interesting to note the 'coloured' virgin on the fuselage...the infant not having an infants seatbelt on for takeoff..the masses of room between the y/c seats to stow ur luggage......at least the qf safety video more accurately portrays each scenario!!
Why demeaning? And why is having Sir Richard on board a shameless plug? He does fly with us! :)
You'll also note that the entire video is animated, and hence won't be inch perfect in replication to real life. If you would like to see how the A330 cabin looks in detail then take the virtual tour here

Well spotted!

Speaking of design, I must say I was disappointed that the DJ website wasn't redesigned before the relaunch last week. A new site would go a long way in overhauling the old LCC image.
All mentions of The Lounge on the website seem to refer to it as the Virgin Australia Lounge. Will this be the new name? I was hoping for something a little more imaginative like Australian Airlines' Flight Deck Club....
There are other changes and product improvements that still need to happen prior to any new web changes - so watch this space!
The Lounge makes it obvious what we are providing to our guests, your suggestion may suggest that it would only be available to pilots and flight crew! ;)

And would probably add alot more points & status credits.

On the lowest J fare the numbers look something like this:

Points Earned (SYD-LAX-LHR-LAX-SYD): 38,853
Status Credits Earned: 34,991

Points Earned (Silver Velocity Member): 46,623

Yeah I wondered that as well. Maybe new cards with Smart Chips? ;)

I also wondered about the barcode on the back of my Velocity card - why is that there? Wonder if plans are for it to be the boarding pass like with QF?
