Nothing shocking about a market based economy..............both Qantas and Virgin will charge what the market will bear. Virgin are discounting to Qantas becuase they want to increase their market share (one must ask is this sustainable?)

Virgin makes much of their lower cost base compared to Qantas, so one would like to think it is sustainable

Would have to have a better chance as they started from a lower base - green field type of model.

They do not have the baggage of the Qantas model internationally and TAA domestically which started life as a Government airline (read public service). Virgin had the advantage as starting as a private sector business from day 1.

Virgin should be able to respond quicker to market forces while Qantas still have aircrew on the very old awards.

We (my company) have just signed up and been accepted to the DJ Corp Flyer program. From August you guys will find a new face in the Adl/Mel/Syd/Per/Drw/Cns/Bne Lounges. Feels strange. Like a new relationship. Exciting!!

I hope they didn't sell you on the basis of the DRW and CNS lounges. :)

Unlike DRW at least CNS has space for a lounge!

Been to the QF lounge at both Darwin and Cairns. Never noticed DJ does not have Lounges there. Remember the QF Lounge at Broome, just a small room on top of the existing pub accessed via a outside wooden stair and a very small fridge with just 4 cans almost cold beer.

My flight to ADL was scheduled to depart at 1810, so there are scope for additional flight later on the day (QF have one departing at 8pm ...).

the QF flight is at 8:45pm actually. Terribly late. The evening timings SYD-ADL are horrible with nothing between 6:30 and 8:45. Totally agree that a revised timetable would be good. DJ could bring back the 7pm flight or even have a 7:30 pm flight. For me that timing would be much better for business travel.

:D:D It's the thought that counts! I think that's called a "homely" feel.;)

Welcome aboard!

I get that same "Welcome aboard" feel every time I speak to the Lounge Angels..........very impressive VA (or is that still DJ).

Don't let the front line staff forget that politeness........it's just one small thing that keeps me flying Virgin (Oh and by the way.......their customer etiquette must diffuse so many situations before they become difficult). Top marks, for what must be a very demanding job!

I'm in the Sydney lounge now and can't find the sandwich toaster. Did they disappear? :O

Maybe Misha took it home? What happened to Misha? His profile is gone?

It was there last Wednesday.

So where has Misha gone? There was a bit of a giggle last week that a few of us were involved in and someone thought it was trivial drivel, but that fairly minor......surely
