We have lounge access.Not very large.

The wines were fine.Mrsdrron had a Californian SB and I an Italian Cab Sav.

Next to us was a fellow from the TCCA and another presumably from Boeing-he certainly had a Boeing shirt on.Things appeared to be about to get interesting when 3 Quebecois sat on the other side of us.They were so loud I didn't get to hear any more conversation.Double damn.

It is indeed a small world.Mrsdron put our arrival in the lounge of the IC Montreal on Facebook and our niece's partner replied that he had left 4 hours before to return to NYC.

We decided today to walk the old town of Montreal.Started with breakfast in the IC restaurant.A scene of devastation from our table.

When we walked out the door to start our walk it turned out to be Make believe.

Lots of beautiful old buildings.

A friend of mine was turning 40 so husband took her to NY. The day of her birthday he told her to get gussied up as they were going to have a special lunch. Limo took them to JFK - because the lunch was in London and they were flying Concorde. Is that classy or what

There was a cultural fair going on.

We then explored the arcade next to the hotel.

A popular place for wedding photos.This lot kept trying to photobomb the session.

Then out to Victoria Square.

Walking back to the IC filming was still going on across the street.Though probably only a few seconds every hour.Guards were posted all around the block telling people not to take photos.A few of us just thought we are on a public street so what.

They were even saying you are not allowed to take photos of neighbouring buildings or fountains etc.

The funny thing about the movie and wanting privacy was that we went and had dinner in the restaurant in the IC that night.You got a much better view of the action and no one to tell you to stop.We even saw a little of the filming with the star Vin Diesel.

But we were here for far more important things-eating and drinking.We had had a glass or 3 in the lounge and between us we had coupons for 4 drinks.So mrsdrron had a good Italian Pinot gris whilst I got to try a quite decent local pinot noir.

Mrsdrron had a lobster bisque with mussels and clams which was excellent.I had the roasted octopus which was great-very tender.

We both then had the beef tartare-mrsdrron ordered the entree size and I the mains size.The waitress gave us both the main meal size.
..

We were both absolutely full so no desserts.But we both enjoyed the food and the service The waitress was extremely good.The pity was that we had a private dining room.

We had a very good stay here.The recognition of status was excellent and compensation for not having an upgrade or a room ready early was way more than expected.
The staff were excellent.The waitress in the restaurant and the fellow running the lounge were excellent.So much so that mrsdrron who is vehemently opposed to tipping told me I should tip them both.In fact she ended up tipping the lounge attendant.
So I can reccomend the Intercontinental Montreal.

Monday and the day to drive to Quebec City.Instead of taking Route 4 or the Trans Canada highway we took the slow road on route 138.Totally different scenery to VT and southern Quebec as it is quite flat and agriculture is the main scenery from the road.But you do stick close to the St.Lawrence River a lot of the time.This was a little west of Trois-Rivieres.I really didn't know what a massive river it is.

From Trois-Rivieres to Quebec City you pass through many quaint little villages.Often with a massive church.We stopped at a couple.

This one had a nice little park to watch the river.

Down river they travel quite fast.
