A bit of a problem getting to our hotel in the Old Port area of Quebec. On Google maps it was easy.Get onto h'way 40 to 440 and keep following that for 3 name changes and it would lead straight to our hotel. But they are busily re doing the Highways in and out of the City so we ended up on the far side of the city.Turned out easier from that side.
Here we are staying at the Auberge Saint-Antoine.Picked initially as only about 100 metres from the Cruise terminal. When we cancelled the cruise we noticed it was a Virtuoso hotel so rebooked it for an extra night. On this occasion no upgrade and the room assigned was the least desirable of the room type chosen being on the second of 6 floors so much less river view.
It has a well reviewed restaurant but it turned out to be a little too clever for us.It is a locavore restaurant meaning on the A la Carte menu only 3 choices-veal,fish or vegetarian and those haven't change for the whole of August. They do have 2 tasting menus but both had dishes that mrsdrron can't eat.We initially were a little disappointed that the other Virtuoso amenity beside breakfast was $US100 spa credit rather than food credit. But after seeing the menu we felt it better so mrsdrron will get her nails done.

To the room.

We wandered the local area for a place to eat.The place I had picked was closed on Mondays but nearby was number 2 on the list so in we went.

We quaffed a South African Sav. Blanc that some others may know from Stellenbosch.

For starters mrsdrron had the beef tartare and I the white asparagus. Both excellent.

For mains mrsdrron had the lobster gnocchi and I had the saddle of rabbit.Again both excellent. The rabbit was tender great taste and the best lapin I have ever had-and I grew up eating rabbit.

Once again the food looks excellent. 😋 I had to look up lapin ;)I was planning on visiting the Delaire Graff Estate on recent trip but didn't make it. Always next time. Was it a decent SB ? ;) Welcome to the Delaire Graff Estate, Stellenbosch, South Africa

Today we decided to take the hop on hop off bus.At a cost with taxes of $C42 each I don't think this one was such good value. There is a stop basically next to our hotel.First Quebecs major landmark and a reproduction fort.

Obviously Quebec red tape means the time of making must be on the container.
We now walked up the Grande Allee. Many fine buildings.
