Oneworld Classic Flight Reward Discussion - The Definitive Thread

re: "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Since married segments have been raised, suggest you find an earlier flight with availability and just ring QF and request the change. If they do it for you then all's good.
I would not expect any problems. CX's married segments can be tricky to understand sometimes but (a) I think they are much more likely to be married on routes through HKG connecting Oz with Europe or the US such as SYD - HKG - CDG (whereas your flights are Asia - Asia - Oz); and (b) I would have thought that "married segments" would be more likely to cause a problem if you only had one segment booked and were trying to add another segment to it with a transit in HKG - the "married segments" conundrum might mean you could only book it as NRT - PER (via HKG, of course)

The reverse problem also exists where say HKG-PER has no availability, but NRT-HKG-PER has availability. In such a situation, assuming NRT-HKG-PER are married segments, you will not be able to break it, without losing both segments. Generally, availability for transiting HKG tends to go first, but not always.

I'm attempting an OWRTW in J and have hit a snag getting out of ARN back to MEL. The flight I want is with QR: ARN-DOH-MEL. When I search using KVS Tool in QF mode, there's no J availability. But in BA mode there's plenty of availability for ARN-MEL via DOH. I can't book this via the Qantas website, but would I be able to book it on the phone with Qantas? Can they see awards seats in their system that aren't available online?

The QF website doesn't show QR J seats for some unknown reason. They will be able to book it over the phone if you can see it on BAEC.

Cheers mate - is it the same for JL J seats? Want to go from NRT-YVR but the same applies - on QF, nuthin, on BA, plenty.

Super handy! Thanks so much :)
Now if BAEC would just stop "exceeding velocity limits" in KVS Tool!

I have never been able to get S7 to show up - do you have an example route / date?
Anything inside Russia or Europe to Moscow

re: "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Thanks for the info on S7, have been trying to find S7 as planning to fly east from UK onto Seoul via Kazakhstan! Taking lots of segments as well.

Hence also a query.

I am starting from PER but maxing the 15 segments rule, so will end up in SYD as #15. No problem of adding the distance back to PER, provided this is not counted as another segment. Any advise on this?

You're allowed 16 segments, and the SYD-PER surface segment does count as a segment. In your PNR it shows as an ARNK segment.

I can't even get Amman to show up on the destination list so am having trouble getting QF to show RJ availability

re: "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

If you use the multicity tool, you should be able to get AMM to come up as a secondary (i.e. Not the first "from") port

re: "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

How do people view RJ availability, then?

re: "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Say you're looking for AMM-CDG, do a multicity for BKK-AMM-CDG to see availability on the AMM-CDG leg. This is how I've done it in the past (unless it's changed in the last year or so.... I find RJ to be very average so avoid flying them wherever possible.)

I'll give that a go, cheers!

re: "oneworld" award (140K/280K/420K) Planning - The Definitive Thread

Two weeks ago I finalised a One World J award. 4 days later Qantas rang to confirm my CC details and said it would be processed.

I still haven't had the E-tickets issued, taxes debited or points deducted. The booking reference is in MMB so all still looks OK.

I am travelling at the moment overseas on a cruise ship so ringing Qantas is rather difficult. Could anyone please confirm that I have nothing to worry about and this is just in the queue waiting to be processed.

Thanks for any help.

I do "return" flight search. I could not pull up CAI-IST (via AMM) but could see IST-CAI-IST (via AMM)
then called QF and was able to book my one way CAI-IST.

I am now trying to book IST/SAW to DOH (direct) in J but QF/QR only shows Y availability.
Just up-thread there was a note about finding QR J via BA.

Would some one please post the steps to find award availability on BA site (I have a BA log-in) what ever I am doing keeps only showing BA flights. :(
