I have booked a one world RTW business awards journey and would like to change a leg from BOS - ZRH on either 12 or 14 July 2013 to fly with Iberia BOS - MAD IB6166 and then MAD - ZRH IB 3464. Seems simple because my Qantas FF screen shows availablity for 2 business passengers on each day. The problem is that when I phone QF FF they say that their screens show only economy availability. They say this is very screwy and strange but have no answer.

IB has been having issues - ther may still be a way.
See this FT post in the QF FT forum from KVS: (Iberia reward flight availability online but not on phone.)

At least 2 business class seats when I looked last night and I could go a fair way through the booking process without actually booking the seats. Many thanks. Was there avaiability for 2 business seats on July 12 ? I will then take this conundrum up with QF FF operators who have been extremely hepful.

Uhhhmmm ... click the KVS link in that post ...What is a long sell?
You were able to book SAA online?I booked the oneworld J 2 person RTW online and it allowed me to book the JNB - PER - MEL flight. I want to change the date for this last leg and when I was discussing the IB issue the QF operator could not believe I was able to book on SAA because she said it was not a fully fledged oneworld partner.
Unfortunately the rules are quite clear and you were extremely lucky. Non-Oneworld codeshares cannot be booked on a Oneworld award.Has anyone had experience with using SAA on a oneworld award booking ? Maybe it was just the operator I talked to or maybe I got lucky with the original booking. The difficulty will be that I have to go through QF FF operators to change the PER - MEL leg date.
Many thanks again for your help with IB.
My second question is whether QF might release a second J award seat later on for QF64. Has anyone been able to book 2 J award seats on QF64 in July or August before?
With or without AMS your mileage is well over 35,000 miles if you try and include CPT-HKG-MEL. In fact if you want to change itinerary to CPT-HKG-MEL then you will also need to remove ZRH as a destination or find a way not to backtrack to LHR.FYI my booking is: MEL -HKG (CX) HKG -JFK (CX) JFK -LHR - ZRH (BA) AMS-LHR (BA) LHR-JNB (BA) CPT-JNB-PER-MEL (BA, SA, QF).
My worry is that I will probably be over the 35K mileage limit if I rebook the preferred date for CPT - MEL with CX via HKG. I may have to delete AMS - LHR but the rules still include the overland mileage in the 35K as far as I know reading the rules.

Unfortunately the rules are quite clear and you were extremely lucky. Non-Oneworld codeshares cannot be booked on a Oneworld award.

On the Oneworld award? I would be surprised if this were to happen (JQ flights are not available either) it would no longer be a Oneworld award. Would it?Maybe a change made in the system to allow booking QF codeshare on EK flights, a feature yet to be announced?

That already exists and allows all codeshares including SAA and JQ and I see no reason why EK would not be included. It could be renamed to the QF partner award.
