Oneworld separate ticket interline changes

Here's my cautionary experience of interlining QF-BA and IRROPS.
Checked in at SYD for SYD-MEL-LHR-GLA. LHR-GLA is on separate BA ticket but same PNR. Bags checked through by QF and BP issued for all flights. QF 9 significantly delayed ex-DXB and arrives into LHR at 2125 so missing last possible flight to GLA. P1 SST in touch via telephone at all times and advised they have re-booked me on the 0955 Departure today. Overnight at Sofitel T5. I rang P1 as I was unable to select a seat on BA flight. They said they would contact BA. Rang BA as started to get a bad feeling about it due to website mentioning ticket revalidation etc. Advised by them can't touch booking must be done at Airport. I got up at 0600 this morning and walked over to T5.
BA says the ticket has not been re-issued and due to it being a separate ticket even if same PNR and new rules they can't touch it. She says QF should be dealing with this and should never have checked me through to GLA to begin with.
Finally she takes pity on me, does an override and re-issues the ticket on the 0955 flight. "One off, will not do it again etc." One of the bags made it to GLA the other will arrive later today.
I'll send an email to the SST to let them know what happened. I suspect a less OCD traveller would have just gone to the airport at the normal time to check in and got a rude shock.

Apologies for laziness as this is a direct copy/paste of my other SM post on this

I feel for you, PF.
Not at all what you would have wanted/needed/been expecting.

You have been able to salvage as much as possible but, as you say, others would have been less fortunate.

Will be be interested to hear the next report.

Travel well. Stay safe. :)

They sure aren't making it easy for the amateurs. Almost looks like a conspiracy to force us back to travel agents.

Would not have made any difference as PF has said it was ll on the one PNR just a separate ticket which, is what a TA would have done according to my understanding. I thought that as it was all on the one PNR they would have to honour the re-issue even when on separate tickets.

One therefore wonders on the basis of BA logic had you arrived late for the original flight and a later flight was still available would they have transferred you to that flight?

The BA ticket was booked as Business UK so should have been flexible.

I went to a travel agent to book all the needed tickets for my next trip (DAS13 + DONE3 + some extra side trips). 4 tickets total. All were booked under the same PNR. Then split into 3 when the tickets were issued... :(

...
That just sounds like BA.
They once refused to check me through to a connecting QF flight - on the same ticket and PNR - then refused to help in any way when their flight was delayed (mechanical, followed by aircraft change to a late arriving aircraft) and arrived too late to get checked in for the next sector.

I seem to recall that the fare rules from some tickets are "not combinable". Which I take to mean not able to placed in a PNR with another ticket. Is this the next step in order to limit airline "extra liabilities"?

(While you can) happy wandering

Hard to HUACA (to hopefully find someone who knows the rules) when they're standing in front of you!

Not combinable, ie. fares not allowing end on end, are irrelevant to this. That is purely for ticketing only and has nothing to do with through-check.

Would this have been more seamless had it been BA all the way?. I suspect not

Thank-you for sharing this. TBH if someone who is high status and seems high profile can end up with a near fiasco, what chance the rest of us. I am still bemused at the logic behind all this.

Anyway I am going back to plan A for Miss FM's honeymoon - I.e no connections mean no stress. It has worked very well for Mr FM and I since we ceased connections...

BA applied the baggage interline changes before any sort of official announcement was made. Other airlines followed with notice and not from the date of the unannounced policy change.

All available information suggests the change was made at the request of BA.
BA is also well known for causing interline and check through problems even before this policy change.

The whole point of an aliance is to get people to book flights within them, BA really should just leave one world.
You can say that as a nice sound bite - but then you are left needing to explain why the other major alliances don't offer the facility....

My experience with BA is that they always offer me Priority baggage tags, at least for the last couple of years.

I think BA are turning into a LCC with their recent and rumoured changes...effects of having an ex LCC CEO I guess...

BA will still tag actual J/F pax with priority tags. It's those in Y/W with status that are not getting the tags. The tags make no difference anyway, the baggage handlers scan the bag tag itself to determine which bin to put the bag into.
