Separate PNRs
QF-QF
QF-EK
Separate OneWorld PNRs which are Award and revenue.

There should be no "may" about it. All of the above are supposed to be through checked and have baggage interlined.
So separate revenue QF - QF/EF PNRs will continue to be interlined?

They will through check EK on separate PNRs but not their alliance partners? WTF...what is the point of the alliance then...

One would suspect that the QF/EK agreement has this explicitly documented as part of the terms.

Yes, I would bet on that! :)
May be a partial answer to the question of which airlines to use for ongoing flights on separate PNRs - at least in some parts of the world?

It was part of the oneworld agreement as well, until the "minimum requirement" was changed a few months ago, apparently at the request of BA. The airline may maintain what they were doing before, as that is better then the "min requirement", but most oneworld members have reduced their interline options to that minimum. :(

well that just encourages people to book award tickets for connections rather than revenue tickets - so more lost revenue for them

How do you know it was BA? It doesn't surprise me at all though.

Interesting. I have QF award to LHR connecting to BA revenue LHR-GVAvv coming up - wasn't possible to put on same PNR at time of booking. I will be interested to see whether I will be checked through to final destination of GVA. I sure hope so as it will save me hassle at LHR.

They were having the biggest problem with people booking a stand-alone BA fare to Europe then connecting to a relatively cheap QR (or other OW) long-haul. Was leaving them liable to misconnects on top of the lost long-haul business. I may have missed this but I don't think BA have agreed to the Reward/Revenue rule as this would be an obvious work-around

Seems to me to be a cost reduction method and potential revenue gains when things go wrong.

The content appears to be rather arrogant and very cold in terms of customer care.

It's not intended to be a public-facing document. That's a document intended for trade partners.

Thanks, PF and dfcatch.
Perhaps Red Roo will respond with something addressing our concerns on this significant change.

Apart from one post, Red Roo has been studiously absent from this thread. Can't defend the indefensible?

even if QF did respond, it would be the same garbage that the oneworld rep said, rehashed as an enhancement! Booking a trip to KUL now in Feb - normally I would do QF to SIN and then MH/3K to KUL, but now I think I'll just go MH direct from SYD since I can't interline anymore.
As a side note, MH still interline on separate tickets to oneworld partners.

Maybe we need a separate thread on who through checks baggage to who on separate PNRs, irrespective of alliance. Could be a good resource.

I totally agree. Some real world examples would be good.
There's a similar thread and wiki on FT in the BAEC forum.

This is really quite annoying. It is all very well having this info on here that award to revenue will be checked though by Qantas, but what if the Canberra people aren't aware of that and Miss FM turns up at the airport and they refuse to do it. You can't actually feel confident until there is a publicly available doc that you can print off......

Currntly I have booked J awards for her and her fiancé to travel to LAX with Qantas (for her honeymoon). Once she works out what she wants to do they will book revenue tickets with AA. I think the plan was vaguely to go straight through to Vancouver with AA, do a train trip to Niagara and fly back with AA to Lax. in theory that should work fine and they wouldn't need to collect bags in LAX etc. However I now think the safest plan might be to overnight in Lax, fly to Niagara, cross to Canada, train trip, fly back to LAX overnight and home. That way none of this can affect their travel and probably less tiring anyway, although cuts into their holiday. Bit of time still before they need to book anything, so maybe Qantas will officially release the policy, rather than just for insiders,
