Oneworld separate ticket interline changes

Does having a 'Ghost' GK segment added to the first booking, have any bearing on connecting flights and through check of luggage?

Or are ghost segments used for another purpose?

GK segments are only visible in the Amadeus reservations pnr and cannot be seen by the CSA in the Altea checkin system so they will not see any oncarriage flights.

GK information segments would only be useful to a reservations person to show the whole itinerary if the pax was changing flights. Even if an airport CSA chose to look at the res pnr it's not going to change anything because it just highlights that the GK flights have been booked elsewhere ie separate booking so cannot be added in as oncarriage.

FWIW, I know it has been more than 1 year since QF stopped through-check, but I thought I would provide QF with some feedback again on through-check to OW, as no doubt the noise would have subsided over the year...
I would suggest others on here provide some feedback to QF customer care even if you have last year, as who knows maybe one day they will listen to their customers!

Good idea. I still can't understand why they didn't even think of offering it to OWS and OWE only. I mean they already have many benefits only for Emerald, through checking bags seems really insignificant compared to access to First lounges, extra bag (could cost $1000 on CX), express security, etc...

I suspect the issue was not so much the cost of it, but the cost and time when things went wrong.

Also a subtle encouragement to book connecting fares with proper code shares

I've been guilty of getting the terminology wrong in the past but perhaps we could change the thread title to reflect through-checking, not interlining, which is a separate issue.

I'll flick them a message. Cathay and Qatar look after their customers in this regard. Which other oneworld airlines do so we can point it out in our post? Malaysia?

"Many" other benefits might be a stretch but I do agree I bit of love wouldn't go astray.

Sri Lankan as well.

I think currently QR, CX, JL, UL and MH are through checking bags on separate tickets/PNR

I think it would be a start if QF would make it easier to "link" cash and award tickets in such a manner to permit through checking. Especially when both reference QF flight numbers.

But again, I'm just wandering

JL, UL and MH never stopped through check. CX and QR stopped, then started again.
AY will check through to itself.

AA and QF have allowances for award connecting to paid tickets as they aren't possible to book together, otherwise no.

Everyone else is no or unknown.

Perhaps urban myth, but the award/cash ticket allowances for through checked baggage with AA and QF have had reports of mixed success.
Or I may be wandering

If it's a PNR with a QF flight as an award, and a PNR with a QF flight as a commercial booking, eg. SYD-MEL on QF as a commercial booking and MEL-HKG on QF as an award, these can be linked already. This functionality has been in existence for years. Just call QF and ask for the PNRs to be linked (or just say TCP'd - it's the exact same methodology)

So dropped some family members off at the airport the other day, booked with QF on one ticket, MEL-SYD-CGK-NRT with the last leg being a JL leg, at checkin their bags were checked through to NRT as expected, however QF told them to collect their CGK-NRT JL boarding pass at the transfers desk in Jakarta. Not sure why QF couldn't issue a boarding pass for a oneworld member on the same ticket...

JL couldn't issue my QF SYD-MEL BP in BOS. I think it has more to do with JL IT system.

I thought JL used Amadeus as well? Or maybe I am mistaken..
They are in the middle of changing.
I thought they had already completed the change when I got the ticket for my current trip.
Was surprised to see 2 different PNRs (1 JL 1 QF) until I found out they hadn't finished changing yet.

Spoke to them today they said upon landing in CGK there was a person holding a sign with their names on it, who personally took them to a desk and printed their JL boarding passes, not sure if this person was QF appointed ground handling staff or JL ground handling, but either ways good service.

EK is also very good at through-check - e.g. when connecting to UL in London I deliberately chose the QF coded EK flights so I could use EK check in to get through-checked. That obviously cost QF money since I chose EK rather than QF metal!

I have an AA flight from DFW-LAX in January, connecting to QF16. These are unfortunately on separate tickets as I was not sure of my arrangements at the time I booked, and because QF16 was booked online with Qantas, I can't add any sectors to it.

Noting that AA will likely no longer through check on separate PNRs (although I will still ask), does anyone know whether I can collect my bags from T4, check them in with QF at TBIT, and then walk back to T4 to use the Flagship Checkin so as to get the expedited security access?

I would then just use the connector to go back to TBIT - or maybe even try the new LAX lounge if it is open. I know this seems roundabout, but last time the "priority" line at TBIT was so slow, it would probably still be faster. I am OWE so I read that I would technically be eligible to use the Flagship service at LAX.

Has anyone done this?
