I'm amazed that we have a thread of 230 posts about something that does not exist :!:

When you fly out of OOL 100+ times a year, any change to the airport becomes good gossip!

Espically any news where I don't have to sit in the terminal anymore!

Fully supportive of your statement Liam.

FYI, I should add. When I was talking to gate staff on Saturday they told me it should be finished "Before summer ends".

That's a window between now and the end of Feburary. When I looked at it on the weekend there appeared to be a lot of progress, but then again I know nothing about construction and will leave that to the experts!!

I know even less about construction and have noticed no changes in the last three weeks on my very regular visits to OOL. Still cannot work out what is going on.

They have basically put up their workplace H&S cough. The plywood around the outside, to keep the bogans from getting killed. The scaffold is to keep the workers from falling onto the bogans.

Okay. So we've worked out there either isn't much going on, or there is a lot going on. Isn't it great when we put all our information together?

Haha.

Even better, when I asked a fluro clad worker type what was planned, he helpfully responded, "Dunno mate,Ii am just here to ....unintelligble"

Ohh good, I'm glad you know what's going on.:p

No sign of construction just yet. But there is a sign.

It looks like the lounge has absorbed gate one. I've got a feeling it might have a ground and upper level.

Slightly OT. But I've noticed lately virgin flights are taking off from lower number gates. I guess that means there is less distance for us to walk from lounge to gate. Thanks for solving a First World Problem Virgin Australia.

Re: Virgin Australia Gold Coast Lounge

Apparently the Virgin lounge at Coolangatta is being built above Hungary Jacks and will be ready around April 2012.

I agree Liam, the last few DJ flights for me have been the lower gates too. Flew in to Gate 1 last night.

Staring at it right now thanks to a massively delayed flight. Could have really used it now too!

A lounge here will make a massive difference. The boarding areas and general gate lounges are relatively new but very poorly laid out. And the lack of priority boarding makes it an unavoidable free for all. I'm thankful I don't use this airport that often but I can imagine regulars like LiamR would find it mighty frustrating.

Heh. You get use to it.

Delayed flight you say? My aircraft broke big time and they swapped it out for another one. I think we may have stolen your aircraft and given you the broken one. You aren't flying out of Gate 4 by any chance?

Hope that construction is up to spec (above Hungry Jacks), you don't want Whopper and Fries (oil in the deep fryer that hasn't been changed regularly - yuck!) smell drifting into the Lounge....;)

I wouldn't want to crash through the floor and land in Hungry Jacks with my toasted sandwich and glass of red.
