OOL Lounge

As we have had a post today from Virgin Australia regarding the ADL Lounge, perhaps we can also have a progress report for the OOL Lounge

No visible progress when I was there late last night, although I was interested to find that the international gates (7-9) have been converted into regular domestic gates for the Summer Holidays.

Where there would usually be a wall and another security screening point is now just more gates. Kinda interesting, I've never seen that part of the terminal before.

The 'glass wall' was closed this morning when I was there. I presume they open it up after international flights are gone/late at night to facilitate easier cleaning.

From the amount of scrutiny in this thread i'd be surprised if Virgin Australia have anything new to add!

Naturally I am hoping for a completion date.
Originally it was 1st Q 2012, now it appears to be 2nd Q 2012

I'm often on the late night flights and this is the first time I've seen it open.

Didn't I just provide one?

Maybe they are too scared to post anything.... Knowing how detailed the updates are. :)

Lounge opening/status updates only occur when there is something to announce, so you can expect an official announcement when it opens and thats about it, the airlines have learned that dealing with airports and their owners often mean goal posts that shift - look at PER and how long it dragged, and that was for a lounge that in essence was already there!

Oh Dear! As a WP have you not tried the OOL JQ lounge?
May fault. I checked once - was told not allowed as Plat. In reality I do not like everything which is related to Jetstar - service etc. Hhappy with Qantas and DJ.

I’m very much looking forward to my first visit there as a WP and having to argue my access case… be warned JQ staff, I’m coming :p

I seriously think things will change when Virgin open their lounge though.

I have never had a problem accessing the JQ lounge as a WP. Just show them your shiny (and Sam 004, in your case, brand new) WP card and your JQ BP and your "in". That is, in after they laborioulsy handwrite some form of report to QF, who I have been told pay JQ for the privilege of WP's using the lounge. (note small "l")

Another perspective on the development.... (why, I do believe I'm contributing something new to the thread... :D)

At last, an update.

I was getting concerned that nothing might be happening!

Ahhh yes, I saw this last week. But I flew in at night, and could only get a photo of black.

When you are around gate two, you can take a peek into the construction site, I'm not sure if we are allowed to look in or not, but it dosen't seem like much has happened recently!

You know, a thought just occurred to me (happens infrequently).......with an absolute tarmac view and lounge positioning airside of security, OOL will pip MEL as the best postioned east coast* lounge (until upstairs at SYD is done).

* I've never been to ADL or PER lounges so can't compare with them

ADL & PER have no view so you are correct
