Here you are Liam.. Not a great photo - I was rushing to my flight, but hopefully it will satisfy you at this time. :)

(hopefully this works.. First post from iPhone app And first image upload while sitting on the plane waiting for departure)

Reminds me of the Air NZ lounge at ZQN with windows so you can look out over the plebs!

Now looks like i might have a work trip up there late April/ early May. Suddenly very interested in the opening date!

I actually looked at this last week and thought there was nothing worth reporting.

How could you say such a thing with a straight face!

That A/C duct is not the most attractive addition. At least when they were up high you couldn't really notice them. Oh, well....hang a million dollar price tag on it and call it art!

Oooooo. That looks like some serious progress there. I like it!!

I'm waiting to hear when it opens, I need an excuse to go back to the Gold Coast for a few days!!

Nothing worth reporting! Ha! It's a wonder we don't get a post every time a bolt makes a quarter turn. Just lucky the work happens at night. ;)

And yes, I'm aware of the irony of this post given the number of posts I have contributed.

What a great suggestion. I'll pass that onto the airport management ;)

Are you sure that's a good idea? Now all those in the food court who were eyeing it off for its scrap value will instead have six figure valuations in mind.

I get the impression Virgin Australia stopped reading this thread a long time ago, it's very detailed!! (And there's nothing wrong with that.)

We could always spread the rumour it will be the first high yield VIP lounge as it does look over the food court with a runway attached

Thought I would contribute some snaps taken this morning. Sorry no outside shot. I got right to work when I got on the plane and forgot. If you stand back you can see the glass on the opposite side where the light light comes through from the outside wall.

Looks like the mechanical & fire services are in so the ceilings should be going up soon (I hope).

You do have to say it looks promising. A great position.

Also looks like Scafflink have finished their part of the contract

On the inside at least. There was plenty of scaffolding around the old gate 1 door on Tuesday still when I left. I imagine that may still be a work in progress on that side, but can check next week.

Do we have anything confirmed in terms of how we'll exit from the lounge onto the runway? (Fireman's poles to one side?)

It's true that VA will be taking Gates 1 and 2 once they finish construction, correct? Poor pax having to sit on outdoor furniture chairs around Gates 1 and 2 atm, surrounded by grayness is not a pretty site, and yet it blends in perfectly with everything else in OOL.
