In the recent Velocity FF news email I received this morning

The Gold Coast lounge................. Coming Soon

I have another 4 flights to OOL in the next few months and it's very annoying not having a lounge to sit in

The general gate area is very depressing it's like a big bus shelter

I have a feeling the OOL lounge will be very popular!

If I had even Gold Velocity membership I’d be there every day, and be the cause of ATA removal from at least that tier

Maybe thats why there are no aerobridges, so you can get rained on and cleansed as you walk to your plane.

Flew out of OOL this evening (and likewise feel the need for a cleansing, despite a tropics-style downpour as i dashed for the plane). Few fun facts. It took half an hour to get through security with two channels open at 6:00-6:30pm or so (lots of "oh i didn't realise i should have put my wallet through the screener - oh my belt too? Oh forgot my phone!").

The 7:05pm flight (DJ544 to SYD for those interested) already had a queue (from Gate 3) extending to NRG by the time I got through security at 6:30- and the plane wasn't even to land for another 20 minutes!! (flight delayed) You should have seen the queue when the plane landed extending to Red Rooster!

Spoke with a member ground staff and they said the Lounge would be opening in "two weeks or so". Having a look at what I could, that seemed about right, with ceiling panels now in place (I did take pictures of what I could, but the phone isn't being co-operative this evening!)

As always, the clientele on the Gold Coast flight was, er, charming?? The delayed flight and issues getting ground power in SYD had all sorts of interesting language being yelled throughout the cabin (at least down the back of steerage where I was). Very much looking forward to this opening so some degree of seperation can occur!

Great news, if true I have weekly flights in May in/out of OOL

And I just booked all my May flights out of Brisbane solely due to the lounge issue so unfortunately the excitement for a May opening isn't there at this stage in my case

Also makes me glad Virgin got rid of the cheap entry passes, as I imagine the bogans would love being able to pay $30 or whatever it was to load on on free beers

Even the impressive eye candy can't makr up for this hellhole of an airport.

Sitting by the different gates also is VERY different.

Sit near a gate which is waiting for a Virgin departure, then sit near a gate waiting for a Jetstar departure.......

Ha! I was thinking the same thing. I know I should judge or prejudge, but it's difficult when it's plain to see.
I have ben delayed by 70 minutes. Jesus I have to drive when I get off this flight eventually and I am in J and want to sample to wines. Guess I will have to stop.

I’m not sure, I didn’t think the bogans were up for paying the $15 to get into the JQ Lounge on JQ flights and they’re roughly the same clientele. Just because Virgin has gone up market doesn’t mean they’re willing to pay more to get 'free' food and drink.

I find it quite interesting actually,as long as I board the right flight. LOL.but,no pref boarding for J class,mm??Also,as for the lounge,cant wait for when I fly next,but,the price is a little steep,sorry.Recently flew J back with DJ and just waited in a nice little cafe next to a JQ Japan flight departing gate.Found security ample and check in swift,and the cafe was fine with lovely service.and a short stroll to toilets.no probs for me,maybe Im a bogan too LOL.The JQ lounge is nice,but isnt up to par when you compare to DJ and its dreary with no views.My next flights will prob be more than likely with DJ based on aerobridge at MEL and lounge at OOL.
