Optus $99/Mth Sim Only Plan - 60,000 Qf Pts

This offer is back until 5 September 2022.

The terms & conditions appear to be mostly the same, but there are some new clauses in the T&Cs that weren't there last time:
  • "Bonus Qantas Points may take up to 7 days from date of eligibility to appear in a members’ account."
  • "There are no ongoing Qantas Points earned per dollar spent on your monthly plan fee" (this isn't new, but wasn't specifically in the T&Cs last time)
  • "Limit to one $99 Promo Plan per QFF number."

Considering some of the confusion last time, this FAQ may also be of interest:

What is the final day that I can sign up and still get the 60,000 bonus Qantas Points?
As long as you sign up to a new service during the offer period (1st September – 5th September) and stay connected for 3 months from activation, the points will be awarded into your QFF account.

I wonder if that condition will be retroactive to the last offer.. if two were taken out then will they both count and/or if you took one out last offer can you take another one out now (limited to just the one on this offer).

No roaming data makes it hard to justify the change for me personally.

For myself, I look at this offer purely as a $300 payment for a Y to J upgrade (SYD-LAX 50k).. take out two and it's a return upgrade for $600 although that looks like it's been stopped now :)
Oh, certainly, 60k points for ~$400 (if the fourth payment is required), equating to 0.66c/p, is nothing to be sneezed at!

Sorry, allow me to clarify: no roaming included.
it does seem odd that the plan with a QANTAS promo doesn’t include some roaming!

Unless you’re an existing Optus customer….😔

You can take this out on top of any existing account - I had a back up Optus SIM (on there previous offer of i think it was 20k points) and took this offer in addition.

Anyone received their bonus points yet? Some would be coming up to month three, I’d imagine.

I switched from Telstra to this on the original offer, for people who are keen to drop Optus as soon as points arrive, (or 3 months) are you going to wait for any good porting offers to Telstra, like those that JB occasionally offers?

Some of those jb deals can be great!

Considering taking this offer up again for the points boost, targeting PC+ in the next year this is a great promo.

I posted the initial offer in the second week of July so we are about half way to people having the points credit. Unless Optus starts crediting early which would be unlikely.

I already have oodles of GB on the Optus network (more than I can use), but this offer almost seems to be almost too good to be true.

However, I might give it a shot, asking my wife to lend her name to it. What's to lose but around $400...

In the back of my head, I thought the original offer was only for new customers. So I passed. There was no way in hell I’d drop my existing Optus $50 plan (with roaming included *and* OS calls)!

But as pointed out below we can have it in parallel.

I’m in the second month of doing this with my wife’s phone (mine is through work). About to go overseas soon so it’s good to know re international roaming.

Just be warned that you’ll need WiFi to activate the roaming package. For some reason, this specific Optus plan won’t allow you to access the app prior to activating the package. Basically got a “computer says no” response when raised with Optus so I doubt it’ll change.

Can I activate it ahead of time? Like a week before travel?

No. Well you can, but it would be pointless. The 24 hour period begins from the minute you purchase the package. It’s not a wonderful system….

Supposedly with every other Optus plan you can access the app using a local network on arrival, it’s only this qantas plan (which seems to have been set up to basically sell 60k QF points) that has some odd restrictions.
