Optus $99/Mth Sim Only Plan - 60,000 Qf Pts

Anyone else get this on their QFF activity statement? [They've credited 0 points and 0 status credits to my account. The "activity took place" date is the date when I activated the SIM card.]

Both myself and Mrs Woodyren have the 14-Jul-2022 OPTUS SIM PROMO PLAN FEE showing on our accounts.

Same with me, same date.
Yes I did...only proves they have my correct Qf number
It could also be handy if we need to make a claim or start hassling Optus if the points don't hit out accounts automatically after 3 months.

At home today and NBN has been down since early this am. :( ....so really burning through the Optus' 200 GB data allowance!

For anyone who has ordered an esim how long does it take to receive the email with the details?

I signed up with eSIM on Tuesday and was wondering when I was going to get my eSIM email... today an eSIM QR code on a piece of paper arrived via. Startrack 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Hey everyone,
Does the physical sim card get automatically activated ?

I received the sim card from Star Track at around 1120am this morning , and then i received a text from Optus an hour later, saying that my number is active and ready to go. (I still have not inserted my sim card into the phone) I also had a look at my Optus account , and my number and 200GB date are listed.

I assume i don't have to manually activate the sim card now isn't it ?

I received a call 24 hours after they lodged my order (which, FYI, was hours after I placed it) and the activation email was received before I'd even hung up.

I requested new Promo eSim last night around 6pm (already an Optus post-paid customer) and received a confirmation of new eSim being ready to install around 3pm today.

Seems like it was just me who got an esim in the mail. I even called Optus before it arrived asking if they could email it to me: "Sorry sir, we aren't able to send eSIMs through email".

I didn't realise "Qantas Plan" meant the Qantas customer service experience 😆

Signed up on a Sunday, and received the e-sim email Monday morning - connected immediately after following the instructions. Now running both a Telstra and Optus 5G on my iPhone.

The Optus one actually came in very handy on a recent trip to NZ - had much stronger roaming signal all over NZ versus the Telstra roaming.

It's great how coverage shows for both at all times - the top one is Primary, underneath is Secondary.

A bit late to the party but it's been a busy time. Signed up purely to get the 60K points.

Existing Optus customer so I requested a new number & eSim and will add it to iPhone and use it for data I guess before cancelling after the points arrive. Notice that the promo end date is this Sunday so hopefully the eSim is sorted before then.

One thing I was interested to see reading this thread was the option to add International Roaming Pack.

Looks to be quite a "generous" pack compared to the one I added just a few weeks ago in BKK to my regular Optus service, which was $10/day for 1GB data.

Presume this can be added "in-app" after the new Promo services is active? Would be useful for my USA trip in a few weeks.
Correct the roaming can be added when you land in the destination country as it's effective from activation which is minutes after adding it within the app. You get a pretty much instant text message saying it's activated and it then also shows in the Optus app.

I did this over in NZ earlier this week - it's 10x the data size of Telstra (5gb versus 500mb daily at half the cost), but I used both depending on coverage which Optus seemed to have the better.

It's actually $5 for both in NZ but USA (and most other countries including in Asia Telstra is $10 for only 500mb daily).

..and NBN has been down 12 hours now and saying it will be another 4+ hours til it is restored :( Everyone in my household is now hot spotting off my phone and this Optus plan....and I thought I didn't need this plan and the 200 Gb!!

PS...NBN was down 32 hours...not happy!

Like a few people here, my SIM did not arrive on Friday which poses a problem for the Ts & Cs of the offer. But relax, I may have a backup plan to help you out.

To work my way around the problem I first went to an Optus store and asked for them it activate the service even if it meant issuing a new SIM. They said they were unable to help because it was purchased online, so I needed to call them. They did give me to blank SIMs to facilitate a possible connection over the phone.

After a 45min hold I was put through to a very noisy Indian call centre I explained the problem with the Ts & Cs and asked if they could activate the new number on one of the SIMs I'd been given earlier.

The guy was pretty confident that would work out but first I had to endure 3 more 5 min holds. In the end he was very apologetic when he was unable to activate the service

At this point I asked to cancel the offer and was promptly transferred to a supervisor. In an attempt to stop me cancelling the service he managed to activate the service ( on the yet to arrive SIM )immediately, despite not having the original SIM.

Obviously I cannot use the service until the SIM arrives next week but I have both an email and text message confirming the service is active.
