Optus new $50 SIM only with roaming

Having no luck with optus live chat, one rep proceeded to SMS and then call me three times in a row when I stopped responding on chat. I think they are trying to avoid my request to escalate to the complaints team.

I went straight to the complaints team and got what seems to be a reasonably good result (see post #127 above).

Hope that holds for you! It's not what I've been told.

I have just been to internal dispute team (after having my chat escalated) and they have agreed (and provided in writing) that they will pay the $5 a day while I'm o/s in September if my contract updates before then and my international roaming benefit no longer exists.

Ok so for those with only 1 device who only travel internationally some months of the year, wouldn't it make sense to move to the Qantas SIM Only $39 plan then just before you go overseas change to the Qantas SIM Only $79 (which has the included roaming) then when you get back change back to the $39 plan?

These are month to month plans (i.e. no contract) so you pay $40 extra any month you are travelling (which is cheaper than 9 days of the $5 daily roam fee on the lower plans)?

Obviously not value for someone travelling internationally super frequently but if its only one or two trips a year that are > than 8 days makes sense to upgrade temporarily and then downgrade, no?

** never mind I noticed the $39 is only 4G so may not be fast enough for everyone.

Interesting that the Qanats plans aren't publicised on Optus website, you need to go from Qantas to find them.

I don’t mind the $79 Qantas plan, but maybe that plan would be gone to just like our $50 plan. I feel like Optus is determined to axe all roaming included plans

Yeah, and I'm not sure if you can transfer to it from an existing plan without porting via somewhere else.

Just sent through a written complaint. Preferred resolution no change, alternate resolution to give me the $79 qantas plan with an ongoing $30/month discount. Will see what comes back.
Thanks for this suggestion, I've just done something similar, submitted a complaint via their online form and said I would like to continue with my current plan, or if that is not possible, to have the international roaming inclusions of my current plan added on to the new plan at no extra cost.

I think you can but wont get the bonus points unless a new service
It would be interesting to know if plan switching is readily available in app / online. That could be fun - as per you’re earlier comment.

Well for the Choice Plus plans it is, but as stated earlier i couldnt easily find the QF plans on optus website (as opposed to Qantas). Perhaps someone already on a QF plan can take a look.

Was offered a $20 monthly discount for 12 months, after the plan changes in August. Over the course of 12 months, that works out to $240 or 48 days of roaming at $5/day. I guess that gets me through a year, during which I'll probably port elsewhere anyway, or use a local sim.

They wouldn’t let you change to the Qantas $79 plan?

Same here and I was also offered a maximum $50 one-off credit in lieu of the included roaming for my overseas trip in August

As i said earlier I think it is because those Qantas plans are publicised anywhere on Optus site, only via partner offer from the Qantas site.
